G'morning, Whitechapel. Here's your FREAKANGELS. (Ooh, the little window looks particularly lovely this week, doesn't it?)

It's almost June (canyoubelieveitaaaaawheredidMaygo?) -- how'd we all do this month?

Who would have thought that 6 pages of material could be so worth the wait and then deliver each time.

Yay! This just keeps getting better. Loved the shared cigar experience concept.

This month I accidentally injured my daughter (trapped her hand in the boot of the car), my cat died,
and I wrote the car off :( I shall not miss May.

Still, June can only be better, eh?

    Nice issue there.

This month I finished by Computer Science degree and sat around waiting for next Friday where I go to French Alps to climb stuff for ten days.
So May was stressful due to exams and anxiety about various projects I'd handed in. June is going to be punishing physically. Especially if I have to jug up a rope.
Then I have to find a job!

May's been an interesting month for me. The months this year have been gradually getting more interesting. Wonder if the trend will continue in June.

This episode's air of tragedy is quite poignant. Still prefer the Arkady stuff though.

Interesting relationship between to the two characters.

I'm really enjoying all the reflections, in the art - nicely done.

Ohhhhh that was so beautifully melancholy. I'm a sucker for pained sacrifice in the name of unrequited love. He suddenly became my favourite character.

My financial situation didn't go anything like according to plan this week, and now I'm struggling to put together food to eat before next payday. Boss is in a situation trying to get clients to settle accounts, so I didn't push him for paying me this week. I figured that'd be fine, with my girlfriend having landed a freelance illustration gig for a fashion designer. They were supposed to pay her a $600 advance, but ended up holding off till next week to keep up their "appearances" by letting the other artists they contacted give their final presentation. So I hope to god they don't go back on the confirmation they gave her on wednesday... So in the meantime, I went hungry all day till dinner.

Next week I shall be cashed up big, though. Yay.

    That conversation was downright heartbreaking.

It's going to haunt me the rest of the day.

The conversation between Jack and Sirkka made this one for me today. Something about unrequited love here warms even this cynic's heart. :)

May...finished up my first year of college. That's good. Didn't do much else after that. That's bad. June will by heavy with activity, however.

Warren, you're breaking my heart here. Paul, again, you never cease to impress.

May was a very steady month of confusion, not all bad. Productivity is going up.

Oh, that conversation was a bit of a punch to the throat, now. Interesting!

May for me was a month of panic, good friends, excellent music and just over a week's worth of pretending I wasn't a responsible adult. Which was totally worth it.

May started with Mama's 55th birthday, which was followed by yet another Mother's Day.

It ends with me jobless and damn near flat broke.

What a difference a solid month can make, eh?

This ep...this ep was weird. The story is just as great as it always is, don’t get me wrong. More of the FA environment shows itself, the human weapon chick is still around, making a nice compliment to the hive-minded main characters. Warren's normal characters always manage to keep pace with his post-human ones. That says a whole lot about his ability to make even the most common man (or woman) interesting despite their godawful everyday make-up.

Now, the relationship between this issue's main To me, this is incredibly bizarre. Up to this point, I've seen the group as brothers and sisters, although I don't think the author ever came out and stated that they were biologically related. Still, they seem to be one big family to me, which made reading of this issue’s main characters, their, uhh… predicament VERY strange.

It comes off as incest to me.

    Damn, Ellis.

You sure know how to inflate a story.

Fantastic piece this week. Fraught with portent. Jack seems like a great guy, and Sirkka... well, she's Sirkka. I think endearing is a word I could use to describe her, but that's not quite right. There's definitely something about her, though.

Given the pacing of most of the... book... doesn't it seem like rappelling down the tower seem uncharacteristically fast for the FAs? I mean, practical, sure, but everything seems quite deliberate with them. It'd be so faaaaaaaaaaast. (Not that I'm complaining, it just seems interesting to me.)

May... wife graduated with an audio production degree and then got a job in an auto parts store. I fucking love North Dakota. Me? I'm... uh... sitting, mostly. Writing, finishing and incomplete from last semester, etc, etc.

Sirkka is interesting. Jack moreso. Connor sounds happily puzzled. As does Caz. Thanks for today's treat.

I keep looking for a different adjective, and keep coming back to "lovely". Not that there aren't plenty of other adjectives I could use. But the visuals are so beautiful, and the story itself, especially that bittersweet conversation between Jack and Sirkka, is also wonderfully layered and aesthetically appealing. Lovely just seems to work best, even when those sharper, darker edges of the story show through.

So everyone but Arkady calls Caroline Caz, then? I was expecting the nickname would keep the K sound. I still wonder what KK stands for.

I think Jack's reference to his father is the first we've heard any of the Freakangels referring to family? I'd wondered about that. When they were young and learning, they couldn't have completely hidden their connections from their families. I've wondered what their relationships with their biological relatives were like. A variety, I expect, though I wouldn't be at all surprised if few of them were close to their families, given their connections to each other. I wonder if any of them have any surviving relatives.

What time of day are we at now? Early afternoon? Everything we've seen, and all these pages, has taken place in the space of a few hours.

It's just past noon in Whitechapel.

    God, I love this comic.
Like Darkkinghtjrk said, there is just something about a guy accepting/dealing with unrequited love that I find appealing. Maybe its the "woe is me, I'm so alone" phase I went through from my teenage years that makes me like characters that seem to have learnt how to deal with it.

And rickiep00h, I think you're right on one hand, rappelling down the tower seems to fast for the FA, but on the other hand looks like the new blood in their group might lead to a change of pace for the FAs.

May was good. Started a new job. Which besides being the the first steady gig I've ever had is actually shaping up to be better then my last gig (which was my DREAM job....editor on a comic book tv show)
Now, if only payroll would remember to mail me my cheque, June will rock.
  7.  (2415.18)
*sigh* I've had friends that fell in and out of love like that; One sharing too much, one not sharing enough.

May rocked. I came to some personal conclusions and come end of September, after I've settled some debts and responsibilities, I'm taking 2 to 6 months to do nothing but lollygag, walkabout, whatever you want to call it. I'm going to pay attention to my creativity and maybe figure out what I want to do when I grow up.

My beautiful, beautiful month of May; I will see you again next year in another place...

Another great installment. I was referred by an artist friend of mine and I'm hooked.

Sirkka and Jack... shiver me timbers, it's too much like my first relationship. She: Aquarius. Me: Pisces. The astrological equivalent of matter and antimatter.

May was ghastly dreadful, for all sorts of reasons, and I'm not sure what I have to look forward to in June.

I know a girl like Sirkka. Probably a bit too well.

    Great episode, guys.
