I just read that article as well, but I don't see how a really really fast computer is suddenly going to start thinking. It's cool, and it's the kind of technological breakthrough that will definitely improve technology at a faster pace over the next few years, but I don't think we're quite to that level yet.
It doesn’t matter how much bigger or faster computers get, they still can’t run a true AI, they can only process more scripted responses to input in less time than the current generation. It’s going to take some very huge leaps in programming, and new hardware ideas (not just faster ones!) to make an AI happen, if it’s even truly possibly, and plenty of programmers still argue that it isn’t.
