(Jonathan Hickman is the future of comics. Period)

    TINY TITANS #5
(I don't know why this book makes me laugh. It's just so damn cute. I've never read the adult titans books, don't follow them at all. But this, just adorable)

    Action Comics #866
    Young Liars #4
A Red Mass for Mars #1
    newuniversal: shockfront #2
    Sky Doll #2
    Doktor Sleepless #7
    Narcopolis #3

Pretty decent week for me. Action Comics is a bit of a maybe, but I enjoyed the last story from Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, so I'll give it a shot. I really like the way Frank draws Superman; he makes him look like Christopher Reeve.

(I don't know why this book makes me laugh. It's just so damn cute. I've never read the adult titans books, don't follow them at all. But this, just adorable)

Heh. I pick this up because the same guy does PATRICK THE WOLF BOY. If you like TINY TITANS, you might want to give that title a gander. The art is the same, and the writing is along the same vein. It's just so cute.

Maybe it's just me, but this comment just really rubbed me the wrong way. Most things these days come out as a collection at some point, but here's the thing: if they aren't supported as a monthly, then isn't there a greater chance they WON'T be available as a trade down the line?

    No, it's not just you.

In the interest of keeping the thread on track, and being wary of the arse eels, I'm not commenting on that statement any more than this.

ANGEL After the Fall - the only book I must have ON the day it is out, no matter what.

    new Madman!!

I thought the DC/Wildstorm Dreamworld whatever-thingy was this week, but it is in 2 more weeks I believe. Just a little heads up because it is going to contain the ultimate Batman moment, and comics should call it a day after it's released ;)

The idea in the original post was to give a shout out to some quality books that'll eventually be purchased down the line. Sorry that rubbed you the wrong way. No one else is even talking up Paul Grist's Jack Staff around here - that rubs me the wrong way, but whatever - maybe they're all tradewaiting too.

If you mean to advise on how to best "support" quality comics, than thank you, and if you feel it's your responsibility to "support" comics, then go right ahead. Buy multiple copies even, to make up for the tradewaiters. Just don't hate on the people who don't share your sense of obligation. At least they're still out there buying comics! $64 worth of books in a single week, that's plenty enough support right there. Paperbacks may be a better deal, but they aren't exactly cheap either.

To answer your question, no it doesn't make it any more likely that there won't be a paperback down the line. Publishers know that significant portions of the audience have been trained to tradewait, and they're not going to discount that income stream.

In any event, you shouldn't let other peoples' choice to tradewait get you down. Look at it this way - if you're right, you're going to get to buy the comics and they won't.

    Comics are awesome!

    NEWUNIVERSAL SHOCKFRONT #2 (OF 6)
RED MASS FOR MARS #1 (OF 4)
    YOUNG LIARS #4

I've been waiting a while for RED MASS FOR MARS. And I would like to second @orwellseyes comment that "Jonathan Hickman is the future of comics," (though I'd also like to add in Matt Fraction, but I digress).

I'd also like to add how happy I am that I'm only buying one Marvel book this month. I really need to cut back on my monthlies, and try to mainly support the books that are struggling in sales.

I hope not -- of that list, JACK STAFF is probably the least likely to make it to trade without strong sales in singles.
  9.  (2545.18)
@morganagrom - I'm not going into a big debate or discuss all the finances, but I can safely say that yes, if sales on floppies suck, a trade is MUCH less likely. Trades cost a fortune to print and are a huge gamble on their own. So support books however you like, but the fact remains, bad sales on floppies kill future trades.
