I was wondering if anyone knows what the hell is going on with the whole cloverfield/1-18-08/Slusho thing? I was following it a while ago but got bored of getting nowhere.
haha, me too. it was the first time i got caught up in one of these stupid virals, and i thought it was way awesome. there is one real trailer up now, that i just watched the other day. besdies that i gave up on all of this free advertising crap. it does look as if the movie is now actually called cloverfield though.
I heard that they were gonna call it that, it's a ridiculous name! I saw pics somewhere of the cast of Heroes holding the "Slusho" cups? I think Abrams just likes to confuse people rather than giving real answers
The reason they're calling it Cloverfield is that's the original nickname of Madison Square Garden, where supposedly a fair part of the movie will take place. So that's where that comes from.
I found it hilarious when the intarwubz was all abuzz with guesses as to the subject matter.
After mistaking "It's on FIRE... and it's huge!" for "It's a LION... and it's huge!" many a gossip-spreading fanboy claimed intimate knowledge that the film was a live-action vehicle for the Voltron franchise. Heh.
One of the many rumors floating around. Dubious reliability.
No serious bets on the table at this point. I kind of wish they would just get on with. There's a point where "buzz" becomes tiresome. I'm about there.
Well, you may as well go all Outer Gods, because there is no way anything that has even a passing awareness that there may be laws of physics out there could even move, never mind chew on salty human shaped snacks.
Saw a trailer in the theatre for this, and that was my first exposure to it (I don't generally go in for ARGs, they just don't do anything for me).
The shakey cam was irritating by the end of the trailer, so I can't imagine enjoying the film too much. There's a point where it goes past mockumentary and becomes fucking annoying.
Unless I hear super-fantastic things about this and/or it is a movie about Voltron, I'll be skipping it.
So the whole movie is going to be done in that shaky hand-held camera style? Really? I thought that was just a gimmick for the ads. I don't know if I can sit through that for a whole movie. Especially since it will likely be a bunch of scenes of people running away from the monster and/or talking about it.
there's like a brief image of a monster walking by a building but its only for a split second. when I saw it all I could tihkn of was the old godzilla movie from Japan. Now that would be worth a watch!
