Ray Stevenson is The Punisher in "Punisher War Zone"

This is the new trailer. There is much killing and threatening of God.

You of course know him as Titus Pullo from the brilliantly vicious ROME from HBO/BBC

Refreshing your memory of Mr Stevenson/Titus Pullo

Yes, it looks like someone has colored the Punisher with crayons. But Ray Stevenson shooting people and growling excites me far more than Ed Norton playing a radioactive gorilla or a the man in the iron drunk tank.

    Fuck x 50 = YES!

THIS is the Punisher I've wanted on film. "Sometimes I'd like to get my hands on God." perfect voice, beautiful ballet of violence, and it looks like they're finessing that origin back into a random park tragedy.

This one, I shall see in theaters. Just when you think your inner fanboy is dead...

I'm curious if they are going to include this in the current marvel push to interlace the different movies such as Tony Stark showing up in The Inredible Hulk.

Cause that would be, i think, i wee bit more difficult....though intriguing...

i think just a tie in with stark appearing on a tv in the backroud of a bar or something like hank mccoy on xmen 2. maybe have one of stark's press releases.

    You people stink of nerd.

"I want a coherent marvel movie universe. I want Tony Stark to hold hands with professor x and hitting on spider-girl. Then, and only then, will I achieve full erection"

RAY STEVENSON. KILLING PEOPLE. GROWLING. MANLINESS.

Can't possibly be worse than the first two they've made. I remain optimistic.

I believe they were shooting for R on this film, too.

Looks like it'll be a fun ride. I was kinda hoping that they would have Barracuda show up with that great smile of his though. Oh well.

That whole threatening god thing has me kinda worried though. I hope they're not trying to bring up the whole Heaven's hitman storyline in Punisher IV. That was just stupid and almost drove me to giving up on old Frank.

Soap is a welcome addition to the movie, I just hope they portray him as he is in the comic and not just use the name. If they just show how Soap met his mother, this will be the greatest movie ever made.

"Sometimes I'd like to get my hands on God" -Such an Ennis line! Hopefully his influence seeps through a little more than with lines like that. I'm fucking excited for this movie. Seriously.
I think Lexi Alexander will be truer to Ennis Max Punisher based on her site where she put pictures of the cast next to the characters' pictures in the books, though Loony Bin Jim and Jigsaw don't appear in Ennis' Max...
And I know she can do violence properly after Green Street Hooligans. I haven't seen Iron Man, but it's hugely successful, and the same 2 guys have written this Punisher movie. I'm expecting greatness. But then, The only Punisher stories I've ever read have been written by my favorite writer, so maybe some of the other interpretations aren't as good and they'll pull in weird bullshit like this Heaven's Hitman thing Varuker's talking about. (Though that rings Saint of Killers bells to me... And that's kind of how I think of Ennis' Punisher; just a continuation of The Saint of Killers after Preacher.

Trailer was kinda disappointing though. I'm not a huge fan of the Boondock Saints upside down spinning blind shooting thing. Doesn't feel very Frank Castle to me. Feels more... (as mo put it) Steven Seagal. I'm still expecting greatness.

That scene where he interrupts the banquet already reminds me of McBain on The Simpson's, when he breaks out of the ice sculpture. "ICE TO SEE YOU"
And I didn't see Rambo, but it's the same girl... She any good?

The look of it I like--I'm just not too sure about the really over-the-top action (hanging on a chandelier? Come on.) and Stevenson's voice. Makes me think less of a powerful killer and more of a pro-wrestler trying too hard to be subtle. From the sound of the Rome clip, he would have sounded a lot better if he just used his regular voice.

I'll still give it a shot.

There's a scene in one of the later episodes of ROME where Stevenson's character is choking the life out of someone. He does this thing with his eyes, they go DEAD. Soulless. Like a fucking switch.

I don't care if the plot involves monkey-zombies and nipple-critters. If he brings even half that intensity to the thing it will be golden glory.
  5.  (2592.15)
ROME is how you make a fucking television show.
  6.  (2592.16)
It kind of looks like a Punisher fan film that somehow got Ray Stevenson to play Frank.

Which has a certain appeal, I suppose.

Kinda would've rather had a better Thomas Jane flick and Stevenson in an Ares movie, but that's just me fanwanking.

My favourite Titus Pullo moment was when he was facing the guy down in the square, their respective gangs behind them. The other guy offers to make peace and puts out his hand, Pullo takes the hand, smiles, pulls the guy up to him and bites his tongue out then charges into battle.

And then later on in the series you get a snatch of him relating the story to Vorenus like a charming little anecdote "...and then, I bit the cunny's tongue out!"

I'm looking forward to this a lot. I enjoyed the Thomas Jane Punisher the first time I saw it, but on (sober) rewatching it was pretty poor.

I'm just hoping this Punisher will use flashbangs, cover and tactics instead of hanging upside-down with two guns and OH SHIT

Yeah... I'm not holding my breath on a good movie. Too bad, Ennis's Punisher run is probably my favorite company character run I've ever read.

They'll still get my 10 bucks. God I'm such a studio tool...
