BLACK SUMMER ALPHA reprints the sold out issues 0 and 1. This is the original uncoloured art for the wraparound cover by the mad Ryp in al its page-breaking glory:
I'm still waiting for the next issue to come out. I'm in love with this series and though I haven't liked much of the art, I have to say, that is beautifully done.
I expected to like this book, but it blew me away. It's fantastic. So is Doktor Sleepless. I think I'm a little late to the Avatar Press party. I have some catching up to do. I got the Apparat issues as they came out, but since then the start of Black Summer and Doktor Sleepless were my first issues from the company. I've since been picking up Streets of Glory, too.
Just when you think you've gotten used to Ryp's beautifully detail-heavy artwork, he comes along with a piece like that and ups the ante. And intensity.
I love Mark Sweeney's colours on the final version, too.
