this may sound smarmy and/or stupid, but what exactly does a "netlabel" entail? is it like a label that only does digital music? i have been curious about this term fo r awhile, and people usually just say "uh, yeah, i THINK so" to the question.
I know Warren posted something about this somewhere, but I can't seem to find it right now.
One of the interesting ideas is that they don't have to limit themselves to music. Sure, that's easy and good for now, but we're talking about culture here. Music, games, video, comics, literature, and all kinds of art could be on a single netlabel, if so desired. It's only bits, branding, and curatorial, afterall.
