I heard Lykke Li on my satellite radio, and would like to find more musics by her because her voice is hypnotic.

    they might be giants
    stone temple pilots
    dog fashion disco
    elvis costello
mindless self indulgence (and that has no "if" in it; i have no interest in that album.)

    am loving still loving this:

Kobra Audio Labs: Tones Drones & Broken Bones (Promo Mini-mix)

Shoegaze meets trip-hop, with dubby bits and atonal noise.

Check out the track that namechecks David Lynch and Grant Morrison, it's a stonker.

    : - )

    I am fucking vexed lately.

    Why?

Because I keep finding Motley Crue's upcoming disc 'Saints of Los Angeles' to actually be... GOOD. Like, surprisingly good. Recognizably 'Shout at the Devil' era slammed through a pedal rack of modern sensibilities.

I seriously don't know what the hell to think about this...

That new single from The Duke Spirit runs through my head about twice a day, and so does that Country Boner remix from Pusifer (I'm ashamed to admit). But I've been listening to old stuff lately: Pixies - Here Comes Your Man, Iggy Pop - The Passenger, Velvet Underground - Sweet Jane.

@Rantz - Wow. That's really good to hear.

    Hopefully you've been drinking heavily.

Today is all about the Dirty Projector's remake of Rise Above and Clark's Turning Dragon. Blindingly brilliant records both.

Heard Lykke LI on BBC2's Glastonbury show late last night and instantly fell in love - any woman with a megaphone will do that to me!
Listening a lot to Times New Viking, if for no other reason than to let the guitar distortion drive the bad thoughts from my head.
Also a cheesy 'Goa Girl Vol. 3' trance collection my son gave me for Father's Day - sweet!

Just really the Action Design this week. I seem to have totally forgotten about music on my first week back to work.

Caught a bit of Massive Attack's set at Glasto last night. Class.

I bought Scarlett Johansson's album. Well... I think, I bought it because the cover was so awesome. And mysteriously I just loved her Tom Waits covers. Plus David Bowie is singing backing vocals on two songs. Someone compared Scarlett with Nico but in my opinion Scarlett sings better... :)

Coldplay's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends"

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis' score for "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford"

"Closed on Account of Rabies": a tribute album to Edgar Allan Poe, by guys like Christopher Walken, Iggy Pop and Jeff Buckley.

"Year Zero" by Nine Inch Nails

Getting my Tom Waits on as there are only 27 days until I see him in Edinburgh.

Oh, and the new Lil Wayne isn't a classic, but it's got some spine tingling moments.

KMFDM is, in fact, doing it again.

Fiona Apple's Sophmore album makes my memory of the era FAR better than it was.

I WILL find another band that does for me what Wolves in the Throne Room does.

I feel this is a week for wild musical moodswings, so currently the soundtrack is Nigredo's muxtape.

Especially The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble is getting to me. Good good.

The Hold Steady - Stay Positive

Surgery's Shimmer also seems to be coming up more often in the shuffle, along with The Fucking Champs VI, and a sprinkling of Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio singing.
