@joe.distort--yeah, if you traded that Swarm/FFG split, you made a big mistake. Those are the only Swarm tracks currently out of print. The FFG stuff is all collected on the discography CD released by Electric Human Project, called "Fine Tuned Chaos Motherfuckers". As far as that TSKS LP is concerned, Mike Shriver is the only LTFAR member on that record, although Evan Plante and Chris Kirby were both on our self-titled, self-released CD (which isn't as good and which you'll probably never come across--thankfully). Weirdly enough, Mike replaced Evan when he quit the band, so we replaced one LTFAR member with another. We also had some weirdness due to that Swarm/FFG split having a sleeve note saying that members of FFG were now in Tri State Killing Spree. It was true when the record cover was created, but by the time the record came out it wasn't true anymore, so we got fliered as ex-FFG at a bunch of shows after we were no longer ex-FFG. It wouldn't have been all that accurate when Evan was still in the band anyway, as Eric, Jason and I (the three long-running band members) were writing most of the songs.

So uh, yeah, there's some weird hardcore history for you.

thanks, i love hearing about this shit.

and not only was that swarm/ffg split a gorgeous record, but the song "snizz shot in the new HeartattaCk" was fucking priceless. i think im the only one i know that greatly prefers swarm and left for dead to cursed, who everybody loved and i was completely bored by.

griffin technology makes a cute little usb soundcard called the imic... even comes with some basic software to turn vinyl into mp3.

i'd tell you if i like mine, but i can't seem to find a cheap turntable with audio outputs.

@joe--dude, you're NOT the only one who prefers Left For Dead and/or The Swarm to Cursed, not by a long shot. I mean, I like Cursed a lot, don't get me wrong, but they don't hold a candle to Left For Dead, who I'd consider the best of those bands. Even the Swarm records on which the lineup was basically just Cursed with a different bassist (FFG split, "Old Blue Eyes Is Dead") are still superior to anything Cursed have done. That "Bleeding To Death" song on the "Old Blue Eyes" EP--holy CRAP!

Also, I remember the snizz shot issue of Heartattack and how much friends of mine and I all stood around looking at it going WTF. I was really glad that The Swarm turned it into a joke song, because that shit was weird.

And then like a year later, Heartattack wouldn't review Das Oath's 10 inch because it had gay porn on the cover. So weird.
  3.  (2714.26)
that whole oath thing was fucking stupid. people wouldnt carry it when they could have just covered it up, get over it, like youve never seen a picture of a trannie sucking a dick before, hahahaha

speaking of the oath (what a strange turn of events)

    yesterday-
THE OATH- transatlantic thrash terror 7" (no tranny porn on this one...sorry guys!)
WELCOME THE PLAGUE YEAR/ AMPERE -split 5" (emo violence demolition)
AFI- sing the sorrow (melodic dark HC influenced pop)
MARS VOLTA- bedlam in goliath ( insane weirdness)

I've finally put together a playlist on my iPod that includes all my Tom Waits (everything he's ever done) shuffled into enough other artists that it's not overwhelmingly strange, but still somewhat cohesive.

I've blended all my Tom Waits with:
All my Pixies (Again, all of it. Even the live albums with the 20 minute tracks)
Kate Bush- Hounds of Love and This Woman's Work
All my Queens of the Stone Age
All the Beatles records from Revolver onward chronologically (Mystery Tour, White, Sgt. Pepper, Abbey Road, Let It Be)
All my Primus: Tales From the Punchbowl, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, Pork Soda (I know, I should buy more)
All my Beck except for Sea Change (too mellow for this mix)
    La Bottine Souriante- Cordial
    All my Gorillaz
    All my LCD Soundsystem
Jim Guthrie- Now More than Ever and A Thousand Songs
All my REM: Accelerate, Out of Time, New Adventures in HiFi, Monster and Automatic for the People.
Pink Floyd: Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Pulse-1 and The Wall
Joe Strummer: Global A Go-Go and Rock Art & The X-Ray Style

As the week goes on, I'm slowly filtering out the slower ballads which will go on a list of their own sometime. It's a fun week though. Also I'm putting Ginger in almost everything I eat this week. It's been a lot of fun so far.

^^^i dont know why, but i always think its cool when someone new(er) works with someone classic like that. not my style at all, but thats a really badass collaboration.

picked up the 12"ep of the new dave witte project KING GENERATOR, what a shock: its fast and pummeling. its really good though, it kinda reminds me of CALIFORNIA LOVE (the band not the tupac song).

also been listening to a lot of THE FALL, trying to see if i like them or not. so far im leaning towards thumbs up.
