I cannot begin to describe how excited I am to know you will be at WWTX! The geek in me has asked my hubby to get us tix for our anniversary * sigh * oh well :) Any who. I'm having a tough time deciding if I need to do a full 3 days or not because I can't seem to find any kind of a program. Will there be autograph panels or just come to the table sort of thing? I'm afraid it's all still very much up in the air. Me and avatar both want to make the most of the time I'll be there, which means I'll almost certainly be around for all three days... but it's a comic convention! Regardless of the schedule, there'll be stuff to occupy the whole time, even if it's just buying comics and reading them while smiling and partaking in the atmosphere :)
And with regards to schedule, if I'm not doing signings or taking part in panels, I'll probably be around the avatar booth to chat or do some sketching. Like I said though, it's still early days organisation wise, so keep your eyes on the website... I think they'll be updating it with more details at the end of this month. William might be able to tell you more when he's back from ComicCon and gets a chance to check out Whitechapel.

Hey Paul i have a question... im thinking of pre-ordering the hardcover (signed) but i plan on going to WWTX ... soooo my question is should i pre-order or should i hold out and buy it there... or can i pre-order and pick it up there... or... something else totally different like pre-oerder it and have a swallow fly it to WWTX and have it there waiting for me...(or perhaps two swallows)

All - We are desperatly trying to have copies of the FA Harcovers at the show. They are binding away, but we still need to get them from there to Dallas in time. It looks like we will have some, but not a bunch. Also, Paul is doing some very cool art classes that are free to people that buy copies of the FA TPB or HC at the booth. See the man work his magic live! The classes only hold 28 people, and he is doing 1 per day, so those will probably all fill up very fast.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing you all next Friday!

Just a quick note,

it was nice meeting Spiral, Paul, Mark, William and all of the avatarians at WWTX, it was the first con I've been to since I was about 14. Saturday evening was nice, very relaxed, low key and just an all around great time, I wish I could have stayed later, but I'm getting old apparently and midnight is about my limit.

I'll post a picture of the sketch Paul did for me later, just to make everyone jealous

That's Light of Thy Countenance, a story by Moore adapted for comics by Antony Johnston and painted by Felipe Massafera. Coming in Jan. Also that month we have a preview of Neonomicon, a 2009 original mini-series written and scripted for comics by Moore and drawn by Jacen Burrows.

I'll post my rather limited thoughts about my experience at WWTX and meeting the avatar crew and drinking afterwards

I haven't been to one of these things in a long time, and the one I went to was many years ago in small convention room in a small local hotel.

so I walk in and start looking around and the first thing I see, just to the left of the doors is the Avatar booth with someone that looks like the picture of Spiral, and so I just walk up and say "Hi are you spiral" and introduce myself. She's rather tall in person if you ever get the chance to meet her, just FYI. I purchased a couple of things at the booth and while Paul was doing a sketch on the inside of one I decided to walk around for a bit, to see what was going on, and it was entertaining, fun and kind of surreal.

Some people in costumes, some I recognized, some I didn't (I've not been reading superhero comics for a long while and only started reading comics at all 3 years ago after a long hiatus).

Once in a while I'd hear an annoucement that just made me giggle "Attention, Corey Feldman and the cast of Friday the 13th part 5 will be signing autographs at stage 3" or something like that. I also ran into (not literally) a couple of pro-wrestlers, they were shorter than I imagined they'd be.

so after picking up my awesome sketch from Paul at the booth Spiral and William asked if I was planning on going to Paul's art class. I wasn't originally because I figured that there would be actual artists that would to go to it and I would be a bit out of place(I have no discernable drawing ability myself) but once they assured me I wasn't going to be pulled to the front of the room and asked to demonstrate anything I had learned I thought it would be fun, so I tagged along and sat at the back of the class while Paul conducted his lecture.

Paul's was a great discussion leader, talking about anything anyone asked him, we went through the industry, sociology, physiology, some sketching exercises, and other things. Unfortunately we weren't able to get him to gossip or spread dirt on anyone in the industry, such a nice guy dammit.

after that I had a couple of hours to kill so I went to grab dinner somewhere and catch up on some work I'm doing and then came back to the hotel for the after hours meetup. I went to the bar at first and had a couple of beers and didn't see anyone there, so I figured there was likely another bar elsewhere, but nope, the avatar crew had commondeered a couple of couches, chairs and tables in the lobby right by the entrance to the hotel.

Honestly sitting and talking about any and everything with the people in the lobby was probably the highlight of the day, besides the Avatar crew lots of neat people kept stopping buy to say hello and talk for a while and we got to people watch and even see a wedding party returning from their ceremony.

So thanks Spiral, William, Paul, Mark and everyone at Avatar for making it a fun evening and if I'm still in Texas next year and you're all back I'll stop and say hello again.

Love the videos. That first one of Paul sketching was the sketch he was doing for me. The video from the art class was the one I was in. Even though I'm not an artist, it was way cool to hear about Paul's process. You can see me for a brief second at the beginning of the video, on the right (in the red shirt).
