    IKE TURNER FUN FACTS
    * According to his website, Ike was the "father of Rock and Roll."

    * Turner is said to have been married 14 times but he has only been known to have married four times publicly.

    * In an October 17, 2007 telephone interview conducted by Howard Stern, Ike claimed he and Tina Turner were never actually married, though he didn't explain why they shared the same last name.

I liked that time when he and Bootsy Collins travelled back in time to battle Omega Saladin during the Seventeenth Crusade.

Wasn't that the plot of, like, every issue of Nextwave?

just when his albums were getting rereleased and he wasn't quick enough to capitalize on this girl group and funk/soul revival.

Every report I've heard on this, until the last few, has failed to mention that he's a wifebeater.

Here in St. Louis, the media wants to turn him into another dead St. Louis icon, someone to be proud of, look at us, world, he was one of ours!... And I can't help but think... "Why?" I'm sure the guy did wonderful things for music, I know he did, but that shouldn't gloss over the fact that he was an asshole.

There are and have been many highly creative writers/artists/musicians who are total assholes in their personal lives. Talent plus hard work doesn't make you a nice person.

One can choose to let their personal assholery color one's view of their art, or not. I can see arguments going either way.

I agree with Scott, while I condemn his assholery, he was an innovator of Rock Music.

I mean if we dismissed all works by assholes, drug addicts, womanizers and the like, we'd have no popular culture, or it would suck at least

I agree. He was clearly an asshole but Rocket 88 was clearly a masterpiece.
