Twitter is transformative when it works right, but a major annoyance when it does not. Flakiness does not allow it to hit its full potential (for now).

The 140 character limit makes the best Tweeters sound like poets and the rest (even those that are marginally proficient at communication) sound like fuckwits.

I find that updates via Twitter for things in which I am interested are far easier to follow via Tweets than an RSS feed; it skirts that middle-ground in the passive/active continuum.

Then again, I just spew random inconsequential musings and drunken incomprehensible fragments most of the time; 'tis a brave new medium for mixed-message confusion and ego-masturbation.

Twitter, unfortunately, works better for me to post quick ideas than a long-form blog entry due to the intrinsic disjointedness of my thoughts and the staccato rhythms in my mind. Unfortunately, my deficiency in attention and general lack of motivation leads me to blog less and Tweet more.

I had a plan the other day to find interesting people on Twitter, "look on the public stream, and if I see someone who looks interesting, I'll follow them for a while and see if they can sustain it".

Secretly stalking from afar is the Twitter way. I love yelling incoherent things at Wil Wheaton. Every time he says something snarky I think of him on "I Love the whatever decade needs to be drug sputtering back to life". Not so much because it's fun to do, but I feel like if I even sort of remember he was Wesley Crusher he'll come murder me in my sleep.

i just downloaded this TWEETDECK application to help manage it. so far i've enjoyed it. It displays new tweets in an IM-like widget window, has an adjustable timeframe display, and can expand to several columns for direct messages, shows @replies from people you might not be following, and a few other nice touches. Figured i'd send it along.
