Gives me a good idea how he maps out for the inks on things like the dirty sidewalks, litter and the well-worn enviroment. It gives me no idea how in the Hell he knows that is how a human body buckles under stress. Geez, that's beautiful and scary at the same time...
I am in awe of the originality. You simply do not see that type of original action anywhere in any medium. What a creative team and truly what i look forward too in comics - having exhausted (some) of your previous avatar work. I await this and more.
Yes, this offers a wonderful perspective. But I think we'd all like to see the script as well. "...The ears will have been traveling downward at the same pace as his torso, roughly, so they should still be just below his face on either side, sort of incidental and..."
Actually, writing that little joke just instilled within me a finer appreciation for the way Mr. Ryp conveys a sense of progression of impact along the line of motion, from the initial collision up top to the climax of stress a moment later down below, expanding his image beyond static boundaries, conveying the brutal flow of physics in full-blooded 3-D vision.
I can never read Black Summer without thinking for a moment how much other writer's must envy you, Warren. For what he's able to do with words.
Wow. Just. This is so great. This kind of behind-the-scenes stuff gives me a huge appreciation for comics beyond my already voluminous love of them. I could stare at these all day.
