I have lived in the Bay Area for three years and not gone yet... perhaps this year. Last year, I was across the street at another event and didn't even go, even though I had something in my possession that would allow me to get in for free.
This year, I will go. I have said this for two years now, but I am serious this time. Hell... maybe I can get a black light reactive, laughing Dark Knight T-Shirt...
I'm too cheap to pay to go. I've volunteered the last three years to get in for free. I'll probably be there Sunday, and maybe Friday because its my day off from work. I figure three hours is not a lot of time to give up.
I may wander in at some point - It's a good starter con for those who have never been to a con - and also a good Test of Personal Tolerance if one plans on going to San Diego Comic-Con....
I went in 06 and shot some interviews with Brian Singer, Kevin Smith, and Kara Deborah Unger (Silent Hill) for IESB.net. It was a lot of fun. I'd like to go again, but I don't think that will be happening, as I don't want to pay to get in and it's 3 hours away anyway.
I went when it was held at the oakland convention center. Have yet to attend since it moved across the bay. If I find myself back home around that time I may go.
I just looked at the lineup, and I may have to go, just to see what happens when J Michael Straczynski gets asked about One More Day one too many times....
Thinking about it. Only con I've ever been to is APE, which is obviously another critter entirely. Is this one of those things where people wear funny costumes and take things too seriously? Might drag the boyfriend but the phrase "not enough drugs in the world" was emitted by him at some point regarding cons...

Last year I went with my friend, M, to look at Kitty Girls, which we assumed was a much loved subset of the population which would be well represented.
we were wrong, we saw only two.
it was still awesome.
It was the first convention I'd ever gone to, and though it did naturally induce a panic attack, it wasn't a really bad one, and I literally bumped into Tom Waits, who looked really angry at first, but then totally forgave me.
I'll totally go again this year, even though the beer was damned expensive...
Last call. Have basically decided no one's going, so why bother.
Anyone looking forward to this con at all? So far I haven't heard much enthusiasm.
(Edited to add: Would like a signed copy of Demo, don't get me wrong.. but I'm in it for the bar conversations and meeting other attendees. I could always buy from an artist's website or something.)
