Yes, you read it right. I am posting about my summer holidays in the thick of winter.
Mostly because what I DID do all August was work on some stuff for the US NOAA.
For a full time month and a few months afterward (part time), I worked with a team of 6 coworkers and 2 NOAA liasons to help put together a sim that highlights the NOAA’s National Ocean Service branch - the basics of what it does, where it operates, that sort of thing.
I contributed basic terraforming, building, modelling, texturing and voiceover work for my co-workers to script from, and the results are now open to the public in NOS’ educational sim Okeanos as part of:
- a sub tour discussing 5 marine sanctuaries - demos discussing Coastal Predictions, Geodetic Survey, Harmful Algal Bloom demo - overall landscaping, fauna and flora.
A small set of shots taken some time before the sim opening is available here. I’ll probably go back and take some more when I get a chance.
Cool. Let us know when it opens! I have a friend who does stuff for NOAA (mostly keeps their ancient, archaic, and proprietary systems talking to each other...)
