the new Pinebox Serenade album just dropped a couplea weeks ago, and it's around in my head more often than not...
"What if Leonard Cohen fronted a bluegrass ensemble?"

The World/Inferno Friendship Society - i love all of their stuff, if you like Dresden Dolls i highly suggest checking them out. Actually the Dresden Dolls' drummer is currently the WIFS drummer too.

I saw them live on Friday. They were amazing.

Finally shelled out many anemic US$ and imported a copy of John Barleycorn Reborn: Dark Britannica to Alaska.

Wow. I've had an on and off thing for Brit Folk since the days when Fairport Convention was interesting. Then there was the Clash-like politics of Oyster Band, and the country-dance-dub of Edward II & The Red Hot Polkas. But it's been 20 years since any British "folk" stopped me in my tracks. I've relied on Scandinavian and Hungarian flavors to fullfill my "dark and strange" folk tastes.

But this collection is extraordinary - worth every decimated dollar! (No favorite tracks yet...)

I've been listening to Springsteen's Nebraska and The Beatles' Revolver.

Listening now "Silver EP" by Jesu. A great, monolithic, enigmatic music. Part MBV, part Doom metal or something like that.
  6.  (3111.10)
"Jump In" by High Places. Over and over again.
    And Le Tigre.

I've been looking for good dance music and temporarily settled on Goldfrapp. I'm open to better suggestions. I also scared myself by compiling a large classic rock set list from music already on my iPod.

A bunch of grindcore/goregrind/cybergrind stuff with titles not repeatable in polite conversation.

Nah. I have too many other shows to go to over the next couple of months. A few things had to fall by the wayside. Seven minutes sounds just about right for some cybergrind, though.
