listening to nurse with wound's salt marie celeste on last.fm. oh god. wonderful. half way through the track and i had to order the CD. really haunted and mesmerising.
The wife's a little combative this week, so I've been digging up some of the more off-putting (to her, anyway--she loves Bon Jovi and Toby Keith) selections on the iPod around the house...
Nisennenmondai - saw them at a 5 ‘noise’ bands for £4 gig last night and was just blown away. The drummer was particularly awesome - it was exhausting just watching her!
Arcade Fire - Funeral Go! Team - Thunder Lightning Strike (thought I'd gone off this but it was on the other side of the Arcade Fire tape, I didn't have another one on me, and it was not bad really - a nice bit of fluff for a sunny day) (yes, you heard right, tape - I'm such a luddite) MIA - Kala Add N to X - Avant Hard a mix thingy made by people who run an electronica night I used to go to - contains Low, Holy Fuck, Moldy Peaches, 13&god and other good stuff
I'm not sure if anyone else has come across the Muslims, but I've been played there 7-inch so much lately my roommate hate me. They're a really great garage band from San Diego what I heard about from a John Reis (Hot Snakes, RFTC) interview I read.
Here's their myspace. I highly recommend at least giving Extinction a chance.
