'Future Proof' is the full-length debut of Edinburgh band Double Helix. It is an album dedicated to similar pursuits as the Whitechapel faithful: namely tracing and interpreting outbreaks of the future. A fusion of dubstep, hip-hop, techno and punk influences, the album has been three years in the making. It is being released under a Creative Commons license, and as a band we want to spread as many free copies around as we possibly can.
We are pleased to offer the album free of charge to any and all Whitechapel members, prior to the release date. The album is released officially on August 16th via our own Audiodacity label, when it will be available as DJ-quality .wav files, and on limited edition CD.
We are really interested in hearing people's responses to the album. Please feel free to leave comments / praise / abuse here, or on our MySpace site: www.myspace.com/doublehelixonline Double Helix are: Sola Perplexus Veteran Edinburgh techno / d&b performer Sola Perplexus (AKA Morph) was one of the residents of the legendary PILLBOX nights, and has played out around the UK as a solo artist over the last twelve years. His previous releases on his own label Audiodacity, and on Labrat Audiochemicals, have ranged from hardtek to industrial, from drum and bass to hardcore. Double Helix showcases a new dubstep-inspired direction for this versatile and prolific beatsmith. Texture A performance poet, affiliated with several of Edinburgh's respected poetry collectives (Big Word, Chemical Poets), Texture's lyrics come somewhere between the freeform fuck you's of a speed-addled Mark E. Smith and the arrhythmical science geekery of Kool Keith and El Producto. He runs the Weaponizer writers collective. PRESS: “One of the most inventive pieces of British hip-hop that we’ve heard in a long, long time.” - MARY ANNE HOBBES (BBC Radio 1)
“… An innovative sound that kicks you squarely between the eyes, every time you think you know where it’s going… Double Helix are pretty hot at what they do. Their grimey electronic sound, infused with energy and innovation, is a welcome change from much of the formulaic mediocrity that has arisen out of the grime and crunk scenes of late... Intrigued? You should be…” - CLASH MAGAZINE (www.clashmusic.com)
“Hints of distorted guitar wail sit alongside head-fuck techno reminiscent of Chan 'n' Mikes Records output, the hurry-up urgency of blistering breakbeat grime, the descending bass of d&b and distended electronics.” - THE SKINNY (www.theskinny.co.uk)

Downloading it as we speak (er... type). I've heard bits of what Double Helix sounds like and I gotta say: new stuff from you guys is exactly what I need right now!
ah bugger, i wonder if we've exceeded some download limit? "The file is not currently available. Our support staff have been notified and we hope to resolve the problem shortly. Please try again later."
Dude, I am totally digging this EP. Thanks for sharing, and cheers to the whole band, because this is excellent! Next time I'm down in NYC I'm going to have to try and catch a show.
Don't worry, no rush. Much looking forward to getting hold of the album and many thanks for putting it up here but The Letdowns EP (thanks Billy) has just taken me an hour to download. Curse work nets - slower than the post :(
