So are the issues being reorganized for each book? Is the format changing? Do I need to get my ass in gear and buy 6-0 before the reprint hits?

Along with the reprints of existing trades, I would be a fan of a giant hardcover all-in-two edition, Sandman-style.
There's something to be said for taking a series and going, "Here! Have everything. EVERYTHING. In a nice, big version. Because we like you!" (And then most likely laughing maniacally because you've hated coffee tables for years, and now, finally, you have sealed their eternal fate.)
(That went to an odd place.) -

4 is now out of print - Maybe it is getting a reprint, but you can still oder them through Diamond. They are showing as back ordered, but stocked. Could be as soon as next week, or it could take a month to get the books in.

Not going to happen. Warren had stated several times that Transmetropolitan will NEVER receive the absolute treatment. He wants to keep the trades as affordable for all to read. (thank you for that, Mr. Ellis)

I'm having a time out until I can learn some manners.Yes, hardcovers just unnecessarily bump up the price. It's better to make sure the works stay affordable. An even better option would be to publish the series as 5 $20 yearbooks, each with 1 year's worth of the series, and a final smaller volume, containing the two one-shots, the 2 holiday stories, and a cover gallery, reprinting all 60 covers full-size (because what's the point of having Geof Darrow as the cover artist if you're going to reprint them trading-card sized) as well as the original paperback covers.
Some retailers might not like it, since it would mean making less off of the complete series, but it would be great for consumers wanting to buy the entire run. It'd probably sell even better in the long run too. -

So, say $120 for the 6 volumes, as opposed to 2 "Absolute" editions at $57-$62 each from Amazon? I'm not sure Absolute editions are really that much more expensive. Of course, I could probably get the paperbacks cheaper from Amazon anyway, but they don't tend to have the massive markdowns that Absolute editions do.
The original Transmetropolitan: Back on the Street had a $7.99 cover price, the reprint has a $14.99 cover price. Even allowing for inflation over 10 years, that's a large mark-up. I notice that the original trade was 72 pages and the new one is 144, according to Amazon. Is there lots of bonus material? -

If I had to guess, I'd bet the reprint combines Back on the Street and Tales of Human Waste ("vol 0"). That'd help with the whole "some libraries don't want any bindings smaller than 124 pages" issue. -

Supposedly Back on the Street will include 4-6 now.
Amazon or any deep discount online retailer should be able to price DC paperbacks at least 30% off cover, so for general price comparisons best to just stick with the cover price. Otherwise, you start getting into all sorts of silliness about who can get what on ebay for 10 cents on the dollar, etc. -
You can get all 11 volumes of Transmet on Amazon (except maybe the first one? I don't know, I've had mine for years), and they're all priced around $10-11. I just recently got volume 5 there, planning to get the rest over the next few months.

I know that Back On The Street is still available at the moment for $7.99, as my store currently has two copies in stock that we just got on Monday.
If they're making a new version of Back On The Street that is 1-6 for $14.99 though, are they taking 4-6 out of Lust For Life and decreasing its price? -

I just checked today, Diamond US have no copies, and neither do Diamond UK, so it's definitely OOP.
Bizarrely, so is Joker's Last Laugh, which only came out in May. -

I better buy the rest before I have some weird continuity overlap in my volumes if they intend to reprint the whole run. This was already expected to be a busy week for me at the store (meaning I get more than one issue of any given books.) I think I'm on volume 5? I'll have to check when I get home... -

The only floppy of Transmet I do not own is #2. I need to buy the later trades. I also have the Vertigo specials, the one-shots and say the first four in trade. I cherish my Transmets like no other comic. 'Monstering' and 'Business' are two of my fave stories ever, full stop. Often, I yell "MISTER SWEENEY! SHOW US YOUR PENIS, MISTER SWEENEY!" as I ride my bike through town. Which is why kids throw rocks at me. Not to mention what their parents throw at me. I've also quoted the line "Children are very easy to break or assemble wrong." to any parent who will listen. Guess what? More rocks.
Diamond are a buncha bastards. It's there, it's not, it's on order, it's outta print. Next!
Transmet TRULY rewards repeated reading and considering the way things are going, is INCREDIBLY prescient. -

I used to have all the single issues from #25 all the way to the end, but passed them onto a friend who I knew would appreciate them, and then bought myself the entire series in trade, back when it was easier to get a hold of.

I re-read Transmet once every year, in the same way that Christopher Lee re-reads Lord of the Rings once every year. I have the picture of Spider from the cover of Lust for Life tattooed on my right arm as a reminder that my writing, even in the smallest of ways, could possibly change someone's life. -
Two years ago my house burnt down-along with my entire Transmetroplolitan collection *sob* - colour me happy there be a rerelease!!
