I believe Lapham stopped doing Stray Bullets with one issue left to complete the arc.

    From LITG:

David Lapham doing all he can to keep "Young Liars" working at DC/Vertigo. Send him a copy with a stamped and addressed envelope and he'll return it, signed with a head sketch of anyone you want.

    David Lapham

    P.O. Box 3911

    Glendale, CA 91221-0911

    Just an FYI.

First issue was IMO pretty much a perfect intro ending in an excellant s*** bout to hit fan moment. Second issue confused me a little but on a second read I got it. Definantly looking forward to the rest of the series.

This looks very interesting...but did Lapham even finish stray bullets ? If not I wish he would try and finish his story rather than jumping on to something else

You don't get to choose that, I'm afraid.

Oh I know, cause if I had that kind of power, Planetary would have been completed already haha

In all seriousness though, Young Liar is incredible, props to Lapham.

I've been pushing it as much as I can at the store I work at (Ace Comics in Colchester). It's a really amazing comic, and issue two was perhaps the single best comics I've read all year.

I got the first two issues on the recommendation of this thread, and was not disappointed. Beautiful stuff...the atmospheric feel of the art perfectly complements the writing, and really ties it together just right.

    That's great to read, btw.

I'm having a time out until I can learn some manners.
    Lapham is blogging: http://davidlapham.blogspot.com/

Also, in case you aren't buying Young Liars as a serial (and judging from the icv2.com numbers, you aren't: 03/2008: Young Liars #1 — 13,177) amazon says a $9.99 paperback is scheduled for December 16, 2008.

Somebody's not buying the book. Yet one more failure to launch from Vertigo.

That's too bad. More people should be. It's a great read from cover to cover with memorable lines and frantic art all over the place. I personally like it better than SCALPED.

Well, if it's any consolation, no one's buying that either, at least not in the pamphlet format.
  8.  (332.35)
The Young Liars TPB had better sell gangbusters to subsidize the series. I really don't want this story to end prematurely.

There's the trick - how to get people to buy the first volume on opening day. It's only 10 bucks - come on people.

I'll definitely be picking up the trade.

As a reminder, YOUNG LIARS #4 is out today (in the US) at your local comic shop. Buy it or bleed from your anus!

Lapham's always been a bit of an underappreciated talent, though.
I mean, how many of you guys have actually read Stray Bullets? The first issue came out almost 13 years ago now, and of the hundreds of comic-book readers I know, probably less than a handful have read any of it.
I always kept it in stock in all of the comic shops I worked in, and I'd be lucky to sell more than a few copies a year, despite me trying to push it on anyone who read Sleeper, Criminal, Daredevil or any of the the other more popular books that share some of it's ethos. It's also one of those books that I'd always see in the sale sections in other shops...
I do suspect it might be one of those series that would benefit from a big, cheap omnibus edition, but we'll have to see, I guess.

As for Young Liars, I'm not too surprised it took a bit of a dive from issue 1 to 2, as retailers were ordering it blind, based on other recent Vertigo launches (Crossing Midnight, Scalped and Army @ Love not exactly doing stellar business). The sales on issues 3 & 4, plus reorders, will be far more indicative of how it's really doing. I also suspect there may be a good chunk of people waiting for the trade, but again, we'll have to see.

I've read and enjoyed Stray Bullets. At the time the comic started I was 9, so i read them much later. Big fan nowadays though.
