    Two new undocumented mammals - a pygmy possum and a giant rat - have been found in the jungles of a remote mountain range in Indonesia's Papua province, according to a conservation group.

    During an expedition to Papua's Foja Mountains in June, Conservation International (CI) and Indonesian scientists documented the two mammals - a Cercartetus pygmy possum, one of the world's smallest marsupials, and a Mallomys giant rat, the conservation group said in a statement.


    As a Sherlock Holmes fan I'm bitterly disappointed that this species was found in Papua not Sumatra.

    I'm having a time out until I can learn some manners.
    It is only a matter of time before someone brings a few breeding pairs and we have rats the size of pitbulls everywhere.

    When videogame clichés come to life... There's something of tradition in role playing videogames that the lowest level things you have to stomp at the beginning of the game are giant rats. There's always giant rats, whatever the setting. Spacestation? Giant rats. Frozen wastelands? Giant rats. The game 'Oblivion' nicely parodies it at one point.

    Giant rats of unknown origin staring at us with their deadly eyes. Why do I doubt that they'll be like gentle Ben or Willard scott will do puff pieces on them?

    Soylent green is people! Delicous people!
