I could still feel Sirkka's "come home" request from last week in the dock scene, and combined with the color palette this week, I had all sorts of warm fuzzies. I find it amusing that as we're coming into autumn and winter, we're also going into evening and night in Whitechapel. I'm hoping night isn't as bleak as winter...

The week:

Pretty ass all week. Those who keep up with me on twitter know (probably) that they done took my interwubs away, so I've been phonernetting it. While I love my phone, I do wish I had a bluetooth keyboard. My thumbs get sore. The lack of net has been making me catch up on some games I've been meaning to play, though.

Oh, and also I ran into my ex-fiance that was supposed to have moved back downstate. If she moved back up here to go to school that means she'll be attending class less than a block away from my apartment. But at least we might be moving in the near future...

Also the starter went out in my car, so there's an expense I ould have liked not to incur.

Har... in the UK, everywhere except maybe the tip of Scotland would have been wiped out, I think, we were all in the blast zone... we had an army base behind us and as a kid I used to think the world was ending when they tested the sirens. Once, a clock radio alarm that I'd never heard before went off randomly at 3 in the morning, I thought it was the three minute warning and my parents found me quaking under the duvet, too scared to move. Happy days.

This episode was lovely to read, particularly as I'm sitting on the train at Waterloo, looking out of the window at the London Eye and the still-intact Shell Centre... and it's a lovely evening.

Many thanks. Although bear in mind that whilst it's rough, the better panels aren't too far off my current limit of ability and I'm always trying to push myself within the time I have. The way I think of it is that if the whole thing were up to the standard and polish of the best panels, then it'd be representative of the sort of thing I could achieve with an unlimited time scale at the moment.

Between this episode and the previous one, I wondered what an environmental tape of Flooded London would sound like. Would you hear the gentle lapping of waves against buildings occasionally punctuated by the sound of steam engines? Are seagulls the only birds whose cries can be heard? For that matter, how quiet would Flooded London be?

Weekwise, it's been one of those wrong end of the magnifying glass (EDIT: sorry, wrong lensed instrument) weeks. Problems which are annoying when you think back on them months later (involving those fun problems workplace shifts and the deliberate nitpickiness of health insurance companies) currently seem like madness-inducing crises. It's a really good way to start a new story arc. Things have somewhat wrapped up from arc 1 and we get a moment of respite and tranquility. Invariably something is going to throw that tranquility into the trash and I can't wait to see it.

The names in this books are interesting to me as well. You can sort read Alice as being in a kind of Wonderland compared to the rest of the world. Also it's kind of cool that the "evil" Freakangels have Gospel names like Mark and Luke. If the other two Angels turn out to be Matthew and John (I don't think it'll happen) that'd be a cool theme to explore.
