It's been a good week. School starts back up next week. I have a new computer that should be ready to be picked up later today. Still can't figure out what's wrong with the old one, though. Went to a fire-and-s'mores evening this week wearing my FreakAngels tank and a guy I've only met twice said "FreakAngels! Cool!" I told other people who aren't reading it yet that they need to. The comic that is, not my tits.
This was a lovely six pages. Gorgeous, of course. I love Alice's reaction to having to make the "all's well" announcement. Six o'clock, and it's still the same day that we started out with way back in the beginning. Looking forward to what the night brings!
My favorite bit, though, was Sirkka's wordless embrace of Luke. That was just lovely. -

absolutely idyllic scenes opening the second book, love and reconciliation, liquid inebriant lubricants, and a dusk borne all is well...sigh

i too remember those drills of ducking under desks as if it would have mattered...
my week began with an eye candy extravaganza with nine inch nails in houston last weekend and way too loud a place to bury strangers openning, loud explosions and illogical inane cinematic entertainment late tonight to begin this weekend...a much better work review on moonday than the last one i received for my rinkydink mcdonalds of the library world job...is what it takes to kick you in the pants and move one on to the bigger and better...now if i can encourage the same from my dearest 4nix, we can enjoy the simple pleasures of a sweet meeting dockside, a pull on a nice bottle of vodka, and the accompanying all's well in our conjoined worlds...
nice product placement...made me glad to have a grey t meself...

The week was alright, it all seems to have built up to today. I called off work on Wednesday and went to see a movie with my cousin, today is my birthday, I'm 21. Last night I got drunk like 15 year olds do, in the woods with a few good friends and now This. Well This just may be the best birthday ever, great installment, the fact that Paul could capture the whole mood of the episode in those skyline shots is breathtaking.

I liked Arkady smiling down on Jack and Sirkka. I had the same reaction (though I am not drunk, obviously).
I feel sorta weird about the fact that things are going well this week because I've been hiding out and basically haven't seen anyone except at work. But I've been writing steadily and I feel like I get more work done this way. Maybe over the weekend I should make some time to see some friends. -

This week was good and bad. I'll live though.
Paul is officially one of my top ten favorite artists. If only I could shoop like Paul then I could tackle my own book without hiring anyone. The fact that he does all those colors and effects on a weekly basis is intimidating at the very least.
I wonder who in the fictional Freakangels world was responsible for the design of their logo... -

Oh, also, I want to make special mention of how much I loved the warm evening colors of this episode. Book one had a unified look throughout, as it took place over the course of a morning and early afternoon. Now book two begins with an obvious tonal shift through the introduction of the sundown look. It really worked for me. I wonder if that means that the entirety of book two will take place over the course of one evening? The pacing of Freakangels is starting to remind me of 24 (that is not a dis, by the way). -

And here I'd thought there'd be a pause before the next volume. What a pleasant surprise! I add my voice to the chorus praising Paul Duffield's art. In addition to the color (which I really hope comes through as well in the printed version, fingers crossed) and the lovely renderings of Flooded London, the man has an excellent eye for things like panel design, facial expression, body language, etc. Top notch, and in inspiration for me. -

You know, I grew up with the hair-raising sound of air-raid sirens and the nauseating thought of the nukes coming. I can only imagine the comfort from an "All is Well" announcement across a plaza and this episode is probably as close as I'll get. Thanks for that.
Har... in the UK, everywhere except maybe the tip of Scotland would have been wiped out, I think, we were all in the blast zone... we had an army base behind us and as a kid I used to think the world was ending when they tested the sirens. Once, a clock radio alarm that I'd never heard before went off randomly at 3 in the morning, I thought it was the three minute warning and my parents found me quaking under the duvet, too scared to move. Happy days.
This episode was lovely to read, particularly as I'm sitting on the train at Waterloo, looking out of the window at the London Eye and the still-intact Shell Centre... and it's a lovely evening.

Paul's art is absolutely getting better each page I'm sure. And also, that's not the first time this is noticed I guess, Paul can draw bliss.
