Do you have anything that you've painted the FreakAngels logo onto? I sure do. Soon after this comic started, I printed off the wallpaper with the logo on it, and carved out a stencil. Then I spray-painted the bottom of my hoodie and made Boyfriend pose with it on. I sent it to Warren a while ago, but he never got it :( So here it is: (my hair is so long right now that the logo needed to be that low)
I just used regular ol' krylon spray paint. I've washed it a couple times and is still there. But I don't wash my hood all the time, so I don't know how much it might endure.
@Kradlum: KK Qee! It's so cute!
@AtomicSloth: I love the flag! Also, I wish I had a balcony like yours.
Homemade Freakangels stuff? Nope. But I've got this:
It's a stencil using fabric paint (for the lenses) over a bleach-job using this stuff called "discharge paste," which does amazing bleach effects without harming the fabric and has the worst name EVAR.
Too bad it's too tight on me at this point. Which means I need to make another one.
I used discharge paste. From the website, "a reducing agent for safely removing color from natural fibers, and is even safe on silk. It removes most fiber reactive dyes, direct dyes, and acid dyes. It is thick enough to block print, brush it on, screen it on, stencil it on, etc. You can apply the paste to your fabric, let it dry and steam it with a steam iron or steam in a steamer for 10 minutes or so, until it stops discharging."
It's good shit -- easy to work with, not caustic, and produces GREAT results. I got that nice gray tone to Spider's figure because the shirt I used is a 50/50 cotton/poly blend, and discharge paste only works on natural fibers; if it's been 100% cotton I would've gotten that orange color you always get from bleach on cotton.
Amazing. I'll have to keep an eye out for it (I've been banned from unmonitored online shopping due to a recent... spree that left me in the proverbial hole).
My girlfriend made me a couple of Freakangels shirts for my birthday (she also threw me a surprise party and bought me a Wii, I think she's the one!) and I'll post some pics of them when I, you know, stop playing the Wii.
I'm considering going as a Freakangel for Halloween (if I do this will be the third time going as a Warren Ellis character, come to think). Haven't decided which one yet though...
