I'd go as Arkady if it wasn't for the fact that a)I'd have to shave my head, and b)her outfit does not leave much to the imagination, and while that is whimsical and charming in the comic, I don't have the mind powers to stop the inevitable unpleasant treatment I'd get from, well, just about everyone. I probably could work ways around that (wear leggings and wear a tank top as I'd normally wear it) but that would still leave me with the entire problem of me needing to shave my head (and I'm almost done growing out my hair, for starters).
Jenny Sparks (she was really easy actually), and Tabitha/Boom Boom from Nextwave (only more like half way because I did not have the time/energy to make or put together her red outfit, but I did alter a trench coat into a Nextwave trenchcoat).
I get bored. A lot. And that translates into time to tinker with making things.... (some of the following photos link to larger images)
A little while back, I made this pendant (about 1.5" at its widest) - brass plate; rough cut, ground, and etched by (shakey) hand; teeny old pocket watch gears. It's nifty and it was educational to fabricate, but I'm no longer happy with it...
Before that was an attempt at a jacket, with the FA logo made from hand-cut brass sheeting. Abandoned this one, though, for a few reasons (not the least of which is my utter lack of patience at times)....
...for one that was much easier to make with fabric paint:
And, finally, I had to vandalize the Whitechapel bag - sticky-backed felt secured with brass thread-like wire, plus boredom:
I also added small pockets inside to keep my cell phones, cameras, and MP3 player segregated and organized....
Heh! And then I strong-armed my drafter and machinist into making a set of grinder gears for me...
:reporting as another Jenny Sparks: i've done Jenny Sparks several times due to being a shortarse blonde ... with her accent and speech patterns. Originally did it when it was comics/superhero night, was going 'argh, can't think of what to go as' and my mates all went 'Jenny.' The only problem is if you do the union jack t-shirt, everyone starts thinking you're Rose Tyler from Dr Who.
