I saw these Steampunk Lamps and thought that they looked really great. Alas they were so popular that they sold out!. However if you send an e-mail to him at curiousinventions@yahoo.ca , then he will add you his mailing list
Lisa Black, a sculptor/artist from New Zealand. I'm suprised nobody's given her a mention yet:
Part of the "Fixed" series of peices.
This little croc has working gears inside.
All made with real, once-frolicking-in-the-meadow organic material - even the heart which, and I quote, "Was a toughie. I had to finish it before it began to decompose." I haven't had time to look for her official site, but "Lisa Black" should be enough to get you there if your interest has been piqued.
Better yet, go through Coilhouse. I just noticed that one of the images in this post is hosted by that wonderful site.
Amazing. I was torn between loathing it, and loving it. Then I realised all that stuff was dead anyway, so hacking it wasn't really an issue. The terminator Duckling is astounding. I want to see it in a film, wading free from the wreckage of a petrol truck.
Made me think of Vaucanson's Duck, the 18th-century automaton that could eat seeds and crap pellets (not really) and who has a serious mad on for humanity in Thomas Pynchon's "Mason & Dixon."
I wrote a steampunk zombie story a little while ago. In the process I wondered if it had been done before (I figured, everybody loves zombies, everybody loves steampunk, had to be something, right?) and I found this, which is more like Regular Steampunk Now With Added Zombies. I really wish I knew enough roleplayers to get a game of this together, it looks so awesome!
