@LBA the lane motor museum is awesome! If you're ever in Nashville, I highly recommend a visit. Also steampunk segway = win. It doesn't need to be steampowered to be steampunk.

    Couple of new steamy portraits:

Cool, I'll keep that in mind if I make it out to Nashville

and I like the portraits, there's something about the idea of people in the Victorian era with dreads that just makes me smile.

    steampunk resort.

these pics are from a resort i was at last week in thailand. the majority of the resort had a steampunk vibe to it that was supposedly to capture the spirit of the historical tin industry in phuket. but i think thats bullshit and the designer just like steampunk. i didnt get to take as many pics of all the small details that i would have liked to, particularly the silver ware, the handles of which were wrenches

chair backs and floor at restaurant

This is a bit of a request, but I'm getting my first tattoo (a shoulder) this summer, and would love a steampunk one, any ideas?

Murky Depths will have a table at the Asylum in Lincoln on 12 September this year. It's the first UK Steampunk "Convivial".

    Can anyone help Sheltie out?

I was waiting for someone else to suggest something in the hope that my idea didn't sound as stupid as it does in my head.

How about a tattoo reflecting the inner workings of the scapula, but Steampunk? Replace bone and sinew with pistons, cogs and chains?

A Steampunk tattoo would be cool

I found this one on flickr

also the steampunk workshop has some very neat designs,

personally I'm a big fan of the strat project pickguards

    and the altoid tin etchings

I've never gotten a tattoo (I'm much too indecisive to get one) but asked a couple of my friends who have them, the advice they've given me is to go to the artist with an idea of what you want, some pictures and let them make a few designs to choose from.

I have actually been thinking about getting a heraldic type of shield with gearwork inside of it. I'll mull over some ideas and try to jott it out. In any case I'll definitely post pic when I get my tattoo.

Wondermark, everyone's favorite steampunkish webcomic made with images scanned from Victorian era engravings, has a t-shirt that I've been coveting for some time.

There's this once-a-year Steampunk ball/party/gig thing in London called White Mischief. It's held in the Scala, a turn of the century art deco cinema across two stages and lots of little things inbetween.

It's on next Saturday, 23rd May. The acts include a guy who juggles chainsaws, burlesque shows, bands with names like Top Shelf Jazz, The Bohemianauts and The Correspondents, who are a musical duo that scat-raps over drum and bass remixes of 1930s jazz records. They are quite excellent.

Due to date clashing, it turns out that the group of friends I normally go with are all busy that night. I would like to know if anyone fancies donning a waistcoat or corset for the evening, since I don't exactly want to go on my own. Tickets are 17.50. Yes yes?

@the_smee - I'll tell you what, if I can manage to juggle some of the times, I might be able to attend this... I'm in London on the 23rd-24th for the MCM Expo anyway. This could be fun....

I'll let you know by the end of the week. Are they selling tickets on the door?

Thanks for the heads up, by the way.

@ Encephalo Ray - I've sent them an email, but so far no response. I do doubt the existance of on-the-door tickets, however.

@the_smee - That's fair enough. I'll check my funds, see if i'll have enough to spring for a ticket and the many drinks that will result.

@ Encephalo Ray - there will be tickets on the door, but selling at 25 pounds instead of the pre-booking 17.50. Dang. They're currently at 70% ticket capacity.

@the_smee - Crap. I am determined to attend this! The only real problem i've encountered so far is finding something to wear. I'll work something out, thank's for the warning.
