LSATs are out of the way, and it's time to start talking about Real Shit (tm) again. So please join us on the 17th for a discussion of Property.
Ownership has been based on limited materials, and our mentality of deserving things, working towards them, distribution of wealth, etc has been based on this idea. But now we have the ability to make copies of files without taking away anything from the original. How does this affect the creators, the distributors, the owners?
FaceBook invite is here. Awesome writing about Property is here, and my own preliminary thoughts on the matter are here.
I'll be posting the audio from the Singularity discussion just as soon as I've been able to sleep. Doubt there will be minutes or synopsis of that meeting as I wasn't there, however.
Roo, I'd love some feedback from where you are if you want to add to the FaceBook pre-discussion discussion, or on here. If some semblance of feedback happens before the discussion, things go a lot smoother when we all get together.
You should come to ECCC and we'll hold a discussion then.
Keep having these meetings. As soon as I move and get internet (not til December, sadly) I will likely start joining through Skype (even if you will be three time zones away...) For now I'll try to keep up with the podcasts and/or minutes.
@Jack Prince check out http://st.imul.us/index.php?title=Stimulus_Wiki:Community_Portal for all available podcasts, and the Singularity audio is available by mailed CD (too many conversion issues for my busy schedule)
