    Yes, Warren's imagination in that particular field has quietly distressed me for some time now....

    Further to the hypoalergenic cats, it says the same company has transgenic kittens-for-life in the works. Cute, but those things would be COMPLETELY unequipped to survive. The whole point of being a kitten is to fit inside mommy cat til such time as she squeezes you out, and then you grow like a mad motherfucker to keep the dogs and other neighbourhood cats at bay! They'd seriously rely on the owners to keep constant watchful eye on them, beating away hawks with a big stick and so forth, for the cat's entire lifespan.

    There's some ideas that just shouldn't be mucked with. Medical/therapeutic research subjects is one thing, but I reckon designer organisms is a road that should not be gone down.

    The super CO2 absorbing trees sound fantastic. The answer to global warming isn't to moderate industry and respect mother nature but to ramp up research so we can reshape the earth to our own specifications.
