I just bought volume 1 of DMZ online a few days ago. I'm hoping it arrives soon, but it's coming via media mail, and as you may know, media mail is the slowest thing in the goddamned world.

I like these as well as the covers that were used.

BTW just finished the third trade. I love how you make the tension ebb and flow through the story, and how you generally avoid easy resolutions to things. The Matty/Amina relationship was played exceptionally well.

One exception to that is that you seem to have a rosier view of the U.N. than it deserves. I'd recommend looking into the Congo Revolution police action from 1960-61 (or thereabouts), or what's been happening in Serbia and Kosovo the last few years. OTOH when played up against Trustwell/Blackwater, it's easy for anyone to look like Mister Rogers in body armor.

Indeed, my fictional UN is neutral-good when compared to the other players, and I specifically played with the real-life bombing of the UN mission in Iraq a few years ago, even cribbing parts of the actual pull-out press release for the news narration (p. 73), which I don't think many people noticed. If any did at all.

My personal feelings about the UN weren't factored in.

b
