    Every year I come up with ridiculous ideas, but then remember I can't really sew, and have no money.

    This year, I remembered these important facts BEFORE I started the costume.

    Behold my trial run as Little Pete from "The Adventures of Pete and Pete"

    Blondie roommate did Petunia for me, for she is a skilled and talented lady.

    @fiasco:

    I forgot all about Petunia! That is a superb costume.

    @ radicaldoubt

    Petunia is really what MAKES the costume. Hell - petunia is the reason I DID this costume.

    Fiasco might be my new favorite person.

    That show, god. It's impossible to explain its appeal to someone who isn't naturally inclined toward that particular breed of subtle, awkward, intelligent surreality, and it's so perfect.

    ...Actually, my deep and long-lived adoration of Pete & Pete probably explains a lot about me.

    fiasco just flat out wins this whole thread. YES!

    One of my friends and I have also concluded that the Halloweenies episode of Pete & Pete is probably the greatest episode of any TV programme ever. EVER.

    YES!

    @Fiasco:

    That is ultimate perfection.

    Well, the "Allegedly Attacked by a John McCain Supporter" went over well. It was simpler than many of the costumes, but better than a lot of the last-minute shit that people throw together (Anyone who dresses up gets an extra vacation day, which inspires a lot of half-assed efforts.) Take a look:
    Jumped
    I didn't really get to do my bit, so I just stumbled about looking disoriented.

    I went to a party at a local art gallery last weekend and dressed up as Tank Girl. Like Starrah, I felt most of my costume was made up of accessories, like the smiley faced grenade hanging from my jacket and the missile-shaped headboppers. Less than five people knew who I was dressed as, and one gallery patron went so far as to ask if I was a bumblebee. I guess that's a fail?

    i am uninspired. But, as i am in a somewhat conservative office, it may suffice to dress up like i was going to go to the club.

    LOL

    and
    @Starrah

    Thanks! I have been teaching in gore for many years now. I have a background in theatre and I do make-up for our plays at the high school. It's the only chance I have to do the fun FX stuff that I've learned over the years. I've got a foam latex appliance of a vampire bite and I'm thinking of shredding my cheeks up using liquid latex, it should be fun. It's worth the early rising time to see the reaction of the teenagers when they see me in the halls. Last year one of my kids came in half asleep and actually screamed when I started teaching class, we all laughed, it was great. I'm so sadistic.

    That's so rad. It's also the stuff that the kids will always remember. Cheers!

    @ WillowBloo -

    The Borg Queen is my dream Halloween costume. Well, that, or Julia from Hellraiser II, all skinless and wet wearing only an oversized white suit...

    Yummmmm. Oh, the inappropriate moist sexiness.

    This year I'm a grumpy pink bunny.

    Think Hank & Mike, but with cigars instead of cigarettes.

    The only photos I have from the 2 parties I've been to so far are way too incriminating to share.

    The Halloween day party isn't going to be any better.
