Do the books sold in England get sent from the US to London to get signed, then back to the US, then back to the UK to get sold? Almost... but it's actually more convoluted... the signature plates get sent to the UK to be signed by Warren, then back to the US to get checked by William, then back to the UK to get signed by me, then back to the US to get bound into the books, then back to the UK to you! :D That's a lot of miles...

I think it's just the readability of hardcover for me... they just don't seem as portable. I'm mostly getting it to actually have something to show off to people. I know the guys at the LCS don't read Freakangels, even though they voraciously consume other Ellis booty. So having something in my hands to say "See! This is what you're missing!" will be good. I'm looking forward to reading in one uninterrupted stream, too. No issue breaks to speak of, no cover splash/bleeds, just one big, long, beautiful store. And finally, since I'm still out of internet at home until at least December when we move, I'll need some reading material.

I did give up on reading FA online, as I prefer things in larger chunks these days, but the formating worked really well in a browser and as small chunks the format did serve it well. I enjoyed it though, so I picked up the collection.

In book form, however, it felt hugely formalist and that the pacing was so tightly nailed down by the four panel grid structure that there were few dynamic moments, which harmed the reading experience. It was almost a relief to get to the page that was largely white with the fade out in the bottom right corner, as that was the first natural break and pause up until that point.

I think that something which was designed to be read in chunks suffered a bit by being put into such a lengthy feeling and controlled format.
