Anyone organising or otherwise participating in any events in the UK between now and then? Gigs, parties, exhibitions, shows, weird gatherings, whatever. There's a healthy UK contingent in Whitechapel, so tell them what you've got going on....

This Saturday (15th November) at The Hope, Brighton

Miss Pain's single 'Shelf-Location ROM / Kiss Cuddle Torture' launch party. Shelf-Location ROM is a tale of lust across the stacks some of you librarians may enjoy (a Kemper Norton remix is also available via iTunes).

"Come see Miss Pain in action: Witness a fantastical explosion of synthetic pop noise, analogue abuse, and b-movie melodrama, with an air-strike of stunning visual stimuli." or as Ban This Filth would have it: "Ludicrously irreverent pop music... like the Ronettes battling to the death with the Nation of Ulysses in a shop for synthesizer fetishists managed Open All Hours style by Lux Interior and located in a deliciously deviant circle of hell"

    Miss Pain flyer

They're fun - and the costumes are normally pretty good too.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, Northampton's finest* comic shop, are hosting a signing by ALAN MOORE & MELINDA GEBBIE, on SATURDAY NOVEMBER 29th, from 1pm. The shop is fairly new, having taken over the ailing Phoenix Comix shop, and is really, really worth your patronage. It's situated on Abington Square, Northampton, opposite the Charles Bradlaugh statue and handily next to a great pub, the Pennywhistle. See you there!

    * actually, Northampton's only comic shop, but still...

    My Lovely wifes Birthday
whilst being in the same month as mine, and seeing as she bought me a brand spanking new PSX3, i have had to raise my game/increase my present spend at very short notice and thus have arranged to take her to see the rather sick and wonderful Frankie Boyle in concert at the end of ther month. for those that dont know of him, youtube it, or catch a repeat of mock the week on dave ( Should be one on in about 5 min, after top gear).

and just for once, im hoping, preying and wishing that i can keep this a secret, as she always finds out. looking forwards to it immensly.

I am running a Tokyopop ReCon in my Library - Edmonton Green in the London Borough of Enfield on the 18th December from 4pm. The Library manga collection has one of the finest collections of Yaoi in a public library as well as other decent graphic novels.

The London Rollergirls are holding their second intraleague all-girl roller derby bout, starring the Suffra Jets (feminists from the future!) vs the Steam Rollers (steampunks on skates!), on December 6th at Tottenham Green Leisure Centre. Whilst I'm not an actual participant in the event, I am good friends with quite a few people who are. Roller derby is awesomely good fun - lovely ladies! violence on wheels! - even if you're the sortt of person usually entirely resistant to sporting events. My missus hates sports but LOVES roller derby.

More info at the relevant facebook event page.

Pottersville always was the best place to live,

and the nearest thing to Pottersville in Belfast are the assorted penguin people evenings of dancing, music and burlesque

My band, The Wookies: variously compared to Mystery Jets, Hawkwind, Ian Dury, and Chas & Dave. I play keys, sometimes with my elbows, and sing a bit.

Our final three gigs of the year:
TONIGHT (Friday 21st) @ the Rising Sun Arts Centre, Reading
    Saturday 13th Dec @ Plug'n'Play, Reading
Sunday 14th Dec @ the Jericho Tavern, Oxford

Free mp3s from our page! (once we have a decent-sounding recording we are absolutely sending it to Warren for the 4am)

The Wookies, on stage @ Reading 360 Bar, quite drunk

Hey Malsain - how'd you enjoy Thought Bubble?
I blew a bunch of £££ on numerous indie publications, which I've yet to get through. And a chat with Mike Carey made my day and managed to erase some of the embarassment of coming over all fanboy-ish with Anthony Johnston. A good day, overall.

@Prof Structure - Yeah, good times! Got some indies too, Phonogram tee plus got my GN signed. Got to meet D'Israeli too, and the boyfriend got a sketch done of Jim from Lazarus Churchyard. Too tired to get to the afterparty though :(
Went to the Pete Doherty Colouring workshop on the Sunday, learnt Interesting Things, despite the PC's only having Elements!

Definitely likely to go again next year!
