I have to say the most gratifying part of this year was finally finding two artists that aren't incompetent and can actually draw from a script. Hopefully you guys will be hearing more from me next year.
What about you guys? Tell me anything, Got someone knocked up? Murdered someone with itching powder?
Got my first paid writing gig, and although it is just splitting the clickable advertisement proceeds from my own articles, I think that this is an important step (toward world domination).
Also, I got out of credit card debt for the first time in 7 years.
For me it's a good year if you are still breathing at the end of it.
Everything else is just dressing.
(But for single best thing? Talking at Cheltenham Literature Festival. I mean Wow! Me? Literature? And like ARES - the first step towards world domination)

Getting out of Cingular/AT&T Customer Service hell and back into tech support with a competent local ISP/Hosting/Colo company, nice to have my brain engaged again and learning things, less commute, better pay, all sorts of fun stuff.
1) My son participating in Robotics this year; he traveled by himself and helped his team win a trophy or two. 2) Hanging in with my job, despite the stress. It's getting better here in the later half. 3) FINALLY meeting my best friend Lolly in person. We've talked online every day for six years. I finally boarded a plane and went to Texas. 4) My youngest niece was married. After she decided she would die an old maid, she found the perfect guy - and I do mean perfect for her. I was very happy for her, even if I had to participate in some very girly things. 5) I'm back to submitting work again. I took some time off to improve my grammar and whatnot. I figured a few things out about my writing process. 6) Both of my older sister stopped dying their hair. Each has a lovely head of white and gray. I nearly teared up until they talked about kayaking around the zoo. 7) Don't Look completed its first year. I learned much. 8) I'm reading more, plus varied things: short stories, poems, editorials, novels, nonfiction, etc. 9) Hot Fuzz
ironically enough for this board, my best of 2007 was an entire month, starting when i met warren in phoenix. from that moment on, so much amazing shit happened for four weeks straight that i dont think i stopped smiling once. so thanks for being a good luck charm, warren. august consisted of amzing shows, writing articles, a great girl, a bunch of paid time off work, records i worked on came out, and so much more. this whole year was great, but august will go down as probably the best in my life.
My day job pays a lot and is respectable and responsible and all, but it doesn't mean much to me.
I got raises and bonusses and survived a corporate acquisition, but what made me smile was a check for about $230, a fraction of a percent of my regular salary. It was an unexpected payout from an essay I submitted to the "Worldchanging" book. It was a horrible dry hole of a year for me creatively, but that "here's your share" check made me feel I was still in the game.
1. Finishing school and going into a job at a wonderful production company doing stuff I love doing. 2. Finding out, as I do every couple of years or so, who my real friends are. 3. Meeting my current boyfriend and just being happy. 4. Having a meeting with some industry people about my animated series and hearing them say how much they love the concept and want to help me get it off the ground. 5. Feeling more inspired to write comics.
The end of it. I really don't mean that in a negative way, but the events of the last year have just culminated in me feeling really good about 2008, and really wanting to get out there and try a few things.
Honestly 2007 was a rat bastard of a year for me personally and professionally. Best thing is its over and I have plans in motion to make this year allot more rewarding.
2007 had tremendous highs and incredible lows for me. Unfortunately most of the highs have been temporary, but it's like they say, good things don't ever last.
So somehow managing not to kill myself or anyone else is very high on my list.
