    I did a quick search to see if this had been brought up and can't find anything on it.

    So how about it? How about a scheduled Second Life get together? All the Peeps could show off things and cool places they've found. I haven't been nearly as creative as I could be with it, so I could use some inspiration too.

    Who's up for this?

    Grid permitting, I guess so! I can't say I have been exploring for a very long time though. I just stay put at home :)

    You're welcome to use my place on the mainland.

    Gah. And just when I got rid of it on my computer too.

    I'd be in, timeframe allowing

    I believe a good time would be setting it to coincide with the Saturday Night Open-Mic, say 9pm EST, as it seems to draw a lot of the regular readers. It's just an idea, but I know to make this sort of thing happen takes initiative of some sort.

    So far, it looks like Mr. Ellis's place, and Saturday for a time. Sound bad/good?

    I've never played SL. I know what it's all about, just never created an account.

    Is it worth a look even if I'm not planning on spending actual money or designing items? I've read articles about it and they all seem to be saying subconsciously, "You won't find SL fun if you're not buying stuff or creating things."
  6.  (4210.8)
    Well, you don't need to spend money, per se. You can, if you wish. Or you can do like I've done on occasion and just played music, i.e. sing, guitar, and have earned a few Lindens, the SL equivalent of dollars. Otherwise, you're open to just explore for free. The download is free, too.

    Forgot to ask; Is there a WhiteChapel group already in existence?
  8.  (4210.10)
    @tcatsninfan: I actually know a couple of people that have gone around here or there picking up only freebies (hair, clothing, attachments, vehicles) for their avatar appearance, etc etc. and some of them look quite good without having to spend any Linden dollars. And while, yes, there's some stuff that you have to buy to enjoy there are also many interactive sims that can be interesting and fun without having to pay anything.

    Also, the Wastelands version 2.0 salvage/combat game in the Wasteland sims (slated for Christmas release) will be completely free, with starter kits (basic recipes, clothing and weapons by Gutterblood Spoonhammer) for every skill class. :)

    FYI, i'm Sandusky Kayvon in SL. While in SL, I spend most of my time doing something in the Wastelands. Say hi if you see me about. I'll see if i can make it Saturday night but i haven't been exploring much to share any news of new interesting places i fear.

    9pm EST rules me out completely I'm afraid, as a lady of the United Kingdom.

    There isn't a WhiteChapel group as such, there's the Army of Filth which kind of maybe counts (overlapping membership?)

    @Malsain

    Good point. In SL it's pretty much got to be an all-day kind of thing, with people coming and going. Maybe 12 pm EST? That means 10 PST, 5 pm GMT. Hell, it's a completely open idea. Everyone throw your 2 cents (or pence) in.

    @Warren

    Do you have a landmark for your place? I know it's in the Wastlelands, but other than that not sure where it is precisely...

    Val -- I have no idea if this address is still current, but someone will correct if not: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Fort%20Stygian/58/178/69

    In any case, it is next to the Fort Stygian volcano telehub point. If you get to the big windmill, Office Stygian is directly behind you.

    There's nothing at Office Stygian anymore. I'll sort out a SLurl for the other place later.

    Is this still going on tonight ? I reinstalled onRez last night and found the SLurl for Warrens new patch of land (a perk of being a member of the Army of Filth). I can put it up when I get home from work. I wasn't able to post earlier due to computer problems. Hope to see you all on the Grid. I'll be the floating skull with the name Vulgaris Vendetta.

    I'm going to take a wild guess and say this was canceled or I was late to the party. If it's rescheduled you can count me in.

    I wasn't able to log in myself. I was coerced last minute into helping somebody with a race and was given money, hotel room and alcohol. It was a deal Hunter Thompson would not have refused. Apologies.

    I'd still like to see this happen, even if just two or three peeps show up. It's all about community to/for me and I'd really like to see how other people here exploit SL first-hand.
