My guess is they'll find a couple of mooks with instructions implanted in their subconcious, kinda like Alice was.

No horrible holiday stories I'm afraid. Had a touch of snow overnight down at my mother-in-laws, the roads in Colorado Springs were crap (black ice all over the place) but the highways were fine, and no snow fell up here in Denver so.... all in all, no complaints.

Hey Guys,

Well I just wanted to say that this is a great story I never really spend time on the computer but i read no heroes and decided to check out freakangels. Let me tell you that I couldn't stop reading until I caught up, I even read all the breaks in between. Beautiful work, of course, nice to see Alice making herself useful (since she could have just been a burden). I have to agree with the statements of awesome episode.

Thanksgiving was different, my partner and I cooked for my younger brothers, it was just the four of us this year. We had a good time, even though it wasn't the norm. I have to work in a few hours, I expect mad rushes of crazed shoppers, but refuse to be stressed about it. If people are impantient, they'll just have to deal, and if they get out of hand... I've kicked people out of the store before. My fellow booksellers are concerned, but I've done this too many years to get worked up anymore. I agree though, black friday should be boycotted.

My holiday was playful and fun, because I didn't spend it with relatives, I spent it with family (family being, those who are there for you, which makes my friends my true family). We didn't have turkey, we had chicken, but we did have pumpkin pie. Then we played a card game called Munchkin. It was very fun.

Its gone all action drama. I find it odd that Alice, of all people realised a possible connection before everyone else did but perhaps being high and mighty isn't all it seems.

I'd put it down to a combination things. First, her survival and tactical instincts are probably a little better honed than those of the 'angels. They've spent much of the past six years growing fruits, treating sicknesses and slipping off to shag the occasional lucky Lambeth Road lad. She's been living hand-to-mouth in the world outside Whitechapel. While I don't see Alice having the raw brainpower of the 'angels, she's had to rely on her wits a little more than they have. Secondly, Alice is an outsider. Remember that we are still within the same 24-hour period that began in Episode 1. As an outsider (albeit one who's received a lot of information and access via Conner) she's more likely to notice things that the other 'angels miss because they're too close to the situation. Thirdly most of the 'angels probably haven't run into things that are hard to do for them. They all seem to be some style of genius-level intellects who also have superhuman powers. It's quite probable that any one of the 'angels could align a morter to hit a target by doing the math in their heads, so they wouldn't immediately consider how difficult that would be for a normal human and what the implication of their 'cave getting hit would be. Finally, their 'cave was hit, there was probably a bit of an emotional shock factor from that.

With all that going for her, it's not surprising to me that Alice would be the one to figure it out before the rest of the 'angels. And probably just before the rest of them when you consider how quickly KK understood how Mark could be among them undetected once Alice drew everyone the bigger picture.

Even more interesting to me is the way that Alice is obviously anticipating Mark's next strike - against Kirk and the Watchtower. Thus, she's getting the rope in anticipation of needing to rescue him.

And on a personal news note, it's doubly FREAKANGELS Friday for me, since my softcover of Volume 1 arrived in the mail today.

As everyone has already said, page 4 is glorious.
But why is everyone so surprised that its Village of the Dammed-esque? Warren said from the beginning that his initial idea was the Midwich Cuckoos, all growed up. Which is of course, what the Village was based on.
Now, I'm just wanting a full group shot like that. Possibly a wallpaper?
JJ has a point, in that being an outsider, she's going to have a very differnt view of things. Especially seeing as the Freaks have been in each others head 24/7, since birth. No matter how individual they are, its going to mean they have very simmilar thought processes. And shes a very quick learner, as its been said, its still been less than a Day, and shes already cottoning on to an extent of what they can do. "Don't have time, just put a map in my head".
And I know that this is the story of "what happens next". But from the memoirs of 'Kady, and Kates comment on "Same deal as when we used to be hunted", tell me its not just me who wants to know what happened before?

Also, Paul, as usual, the art is stunning, the dust particles in the first 3 pages is a brilliant touch. Took me half a second to figure out what it was.

Still not entirly convinced its Mark. He'd be the one that the finger would immeadiatly point at. He's too easy of a target. Not to say that its not possible, but I still have my eye on Luke. They are getting all worked up about Mark, go looking for him, and if they happen to stumble on Luke, he can just shrug it off and make some lame excuse they'll except because its Luke.

Not to mention he IS the most brillant of them, the 'angels already accept this, they figure thats why e's the way he is What was the line... "He spends so much time in his head that we must all look like ants to him"? It was along those lines. And he knew where the Freakcave is. And knew they would all be there. If it is him, I bet he's terribly upset about Arkady not being there.

Also very likly a trap, as mentioned in previous threads, and by Kait. Somewhere out there, there are people who want the "Angels dead.

Luke is "big-picture" smart. He's the guy who can hear details and put them together to understand the implication. In Episode 36, he'd probably have been the Freakangel to have figured out Mark's probable involvement instead of Alice. Miki, Caz and KK are certainly intelligent, but they're probably more application-focused. They'd know all about medicine, engineering or steam mechanics, but probably wouldn't have much to say about history or philosophy. My father, who's a minister, can't count the number of times he's had conversations with doctors, lawyers and accoutants who are brilliant people who excel in their professions but who also believe that the "Left Behind" series is an accurate reflection of the teachings of Jesus.

I read it as the 'angels being comfortable touching each other as well as being emotionally close. Which only makes sense. From what I've seen they can only use the really high levels of power while either near or in actual physical contact with one another. Sirkka and KK wear in the same room when flushed out Alice's mind in Episode 6. Kirk and Conner were standing next to each other when they exploded the boat in Episode 23. And eight of the 'angels were holding hads in Episode 35 when they raised the Freakfield to protect themselves and Alice.

I've been following FA since episode 8, which was a friday spent on reading all previous episodes. And since then I've been here every friday "Past noon, UK time" - which is stil friday morning here. FA is great, Mr.Paul Duffield drawings and colors get better on every episode and the script is fantastic. Though I must say my poor grasp of mathematics make it hard for me to know how many angels have showed up already, and if there's any Angel we haven't been introduced to (besides Mark, of course).

This last episode was great, colors are fantastic, page 4 etc. Congratulations! Hope the trade paperbacks get published here someday...

I'm from Brazil, we had a native-american genocide here too, but unfortunately we do not have a date to celebrate that, so no Thanksgiving day to talk about. Sorry.

Cool episode this week! ^_^ Its getting more and more exciting.

Alice taking charge does seem a little too sudden for my liking though. I was rather shocked that she was so active - for a moment I thought Mark must be in her head. I'm still alittle suspicious though...if Mark could screen himself, can't he screen himself in Alice's head too?

I don't think Luke can be the mastermind behind this attack...He doesn't have the resources or time. A motar attack seems like something that's planned way before hand, and the materials will be hard to get. There is the possibility that Luke is working with Mark in this as he's really pissed with the other freakangels..

Can't wait to see Mark and can't wait for more Kait action!

Furthermore, I think Kirk will have no qualms about temporarily disabling her if he considers her a threat. However, this gives me an interesting thought. Why couldn't Luke see or sense the guy about to whack him in the head? Was he just too distracted with his job at the time? The Ability (for lack of a better term) seems to be alternately always on or a toggled ability. Is it too much work to be always on? Can some of them switch off while others can't? I'm just a little confused... and, in the event Alice does go rogue, I'm a little worried for Kirk.

It was Jack instead of Luke. Jack was working on getting the rope salvaged for Alice and Luke, well, doesn't really work at anything other than being an asshat from what all we've seen thus far.

Let me answer your question with a question. Have you ever been spooked or startled by somebody sneaking up and yelling "BOO!" to make you jump out of your skin. Your senses of sight, hearing, smell, etc. are "always on" but if your attention is focused on something else somebody can sneak up on you and yell "boo." Or bash you over the head with a piece of wood, as the case may be.

D'oh! Rotten kids getting mixed up in my head! I meant (and saw in my head) Jack, but for some reason typed "Luke". Don't even remember doing it.

I can see where you're coming from with your answer, but most of the time when I get scared it has less to do with the amount of attention I'm paying to any particular sense and more that it happens at times my senses are overwhelmed (listening to loud music with my eyes closed, walking through a crowded mall, etc.) My point is that Jack, while being concerned with finding a rope and maybe coming up for air, wasn't particularly focused on anything more than swimming and not running into things. I suppose I might be resurrecting the "Why didn't Jack see the boat?" conspiracy theory, but it doesn't make sense to me that these powers don't seem to be particularly good at sensing danger in the immediate environment. That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, and honestly, my belief system, from episode one, has been properly suspended to that something as mundane as being sneaked upon is just as logical as being able to sense intruders or danger. Makes no difference to me. Just a logical thing I'm trying to jibe.

Alright, so this is my thinking behind "its not mark".

1.You can't bring in the baddest of all baddies this early. Its only Issue two! If mi' Lord Warren wants to keep the series, you throw little baddies who eventually aid the big baddy in some way. Hence, Luke.

2. In an interview, mi Lord Warren said we wouldnt be seeing Mark anytime soon. Now, this was a while back, but its still the same 24 hr frame in the comic.

Yeah! I've been thinking about how to reply Warren's comment the past 2 days and I realized that she hasn't gone out of the house yet too! >_< But she is intending to go to the pier to get the rope, and then the watchtower to get Kirk, with that conveniently placed map in her head AND link up with all the Angels.

We know he's evil. I was leaning more towards Alice is going in the wrong thought direction.

Still convinced its not Mark yet. Maybe minions. Maybe Luke. Maybe odd faction of scum bags from another town.

Besides, While Warren maybe evil (in the best of ways, of course) he wouldn't sell himself short on a comic. Or us, his loyal fans.

If it isn't Mark... then it's gotta be someone with a unique skill of some sort. Someone who knows that the freakangels have the abilities and wants to attack them. All these attacks are too easily fended off. Like scouting missions to see what the group will do to defend itself. Organization, weaponry, tactical capabilities, response times.

All that hot nastiness.

So maybe not Mark, but likely. He's been gone for quite a while, so he wouldn't know what he'd be up against. Would need some sort of a dstraction in order to attack each freakangel piecemeal... yeah? An attack plan that exploits their weaknesses and forces them to separate...

I'm not sure which of those last two comments upsets me more.

I'm pretty sure that ultimately, it IS Mark, but we're not going to see him yet. I think we're all thinking too episodically- this is just the beginning of a long series of ugliness that slowly wears down Whitechapel as a community- think about it. All mark is doing from behind the curtain is throwing little grunts at them- the mudlarks, new cross, alice, etc, just trying to unbalance them. i'll bet you the attacks are going to get worse and worse until they're finally overwhelmed.

Who says New Cross or Mudlarks are with Mark? They've been a thorn in Whitechapel's side anyway. Mark probably has nothing to do with them, or if he does, all he's really doing is adding fuel to the fire. They wouldn't listen to him, or take him as a makeshift leader. He's an 'Angel. Renegade, but still.

funny thing about being an 'angel- you can make them listen- we've already learned that mark isn't above that. its in fact the reason he was exiled.
