We're going to launch one of these threads a month. And down the months and years, we'll build up not only a mugshot parade of the Whitechapel crew -- but also, for those who choose to participate monthly, there'll be a record of how we all change and grow (and in my case age horribly).

Obviously, I encourage participation from everyone, even if you're just joining the place. This thread is certainly not just for the old lags.

So. Take a photo of yourself and post it (if you're not sure how -- you put a photo on the web somewhere, a free hosting site like Flickr or Photobucket or your LJ gallery if you use LJ -- Blogger image hosting won't work -- and click the "img" button above to put the address of the image in, the http://) here.

I adore people's hair this round.

Again, neglecting the face. I've been getting about 3 to 4 hours of sleep a night, and I look like hell.

So, for self-portraiture:
I had to move with little to no notice in a 3 day span. Today is day three - painting and remnants and fish rescue.
Everything I own fits into a tidy 5x5 storage space. Mostly books and comics.

I am not the things I own.

Also don't know where most of my bruises come from. a) parkour b) rushed moving or c) unspeakable things

This one is particularly charming, across my left outer thigh. Wish I had a better camera so you could get the full color effect. Some in the office think I'm in a violent relationship. @burntcopper there's always wigs and hair/dread falls, an infinite amount of variation and just a fraction of the time to style ;)

@Hylian Hearts if you have virgin hair it's not going to take the color unless you're blond. Bleach is definitely the way to go (make sure to condition the bejesus out of it afterward) Also I can tell you from years of dying my hair that so far the best brand for bright crazy colors is special effects. Stay away from Manicpanic, the colors are tempting but the quality varies (sometimes it's just that the store has been carrying it so long that the dye no longer works) The darker the color and the lighter your hair, the more likely it will stay and reds tend to last the longest.

Never had luck with manic panic or Special FX. Both washed out too quickly (I did the special effects blood red and everything I wore was quickly turned pink. I myself was oink for a month.) bleaching my hair does not work. Dying my hair blonde does not work. Im hoping Hot topics White out will at least my my hair a lighter brown. I have very dark hair and so my choices are limited. I once did streaks with the L'oreil Color Rays. The red was fine, but it faded quickly and left me copper. The Fuchsia didnt do a damn thing, though the box promises to show up even in the darkest hair. My hair just hates me. We have been at war since the day I was born. *sigh*

You know, I'm not sure I'm in favor of random nudity in the forum threads, in general, but if the shiny naked ladies are acceptable, in all their full-frontal glory, then so is Sir Spork up there. He only stands out because of our freakishly unbalanced cultural relationship with the female form, which is so systematically sexualized that we're used to processing it as an object of the pornographic gaze rather than a representation of physical reality, laughable or not. This culture runs on the internalization and universalization of "normal" heterosexual male desire.

Please don't make me get more theoretical on your asses than I already have. I really do not relish the thought of unpacking a bunch of feminism and critical theory into this thread, especially if other people aren't up for it at all, but the fact remains that a user posted a picture of himself with naked women in it, with no indication of who those women are or whether they mind people sticking naked photos of them on the internet, and nobody batted an eyelash. Then a user posted a naked picture of himself, and things got noisy because people aren't used to dealing with penises in their visual media. I actually am assuming the best about the first picture and have zero problem with it. However, double standards and poorly-examined behavior patterns get me down.

Jo - just for the record, I posted the self portrait with the two nekkid ladies, both of whom are fairly well-known fetish models, Kumimonster and Ulorin Rex. The photo was one of the last from a fun day spent shooting them. I mainly posted it because I suspected that some fetish-oriented folks here would recognize them, and also because they are lovely, unlike myself. Obviously I have their permission, they were compensated and signed all necessary releases and whatnot, but thanks for your concern.

Here is me with tumor...

Here is me after 2 rounds of Chemo... 4 to go, but tumor gone.

So that leads us to believe I had a hair tumor. I tried to emulate the facial expression in #1 to facilitate comparison. I am, however, SO tempted to get a sharpie and put a little spider on my skull...

And no I will not show you where else one loses hair during Chemo. And yes, one does lose it... luckily I still have the eyebrows/lashes... that starts getting weird, methinks.

Since there seems to be a mug trend . . . I seem to have started a tradition for myself. Whenever I am taking a graduate class online (which each lasts 16 weeks) I go to the local paint-your-own pottery place and make a class-themed mug. Here was the one I made for my class on Ancient Rome.

There was much coffee consumed from this mug during those four months, but I got an "A" so I was happy.

Before going to an anti-prom in a dress I designed. Anti-prom because I didn't have anyone to go with. Senior year sucks when it just so happens that all of your friends (except one that I wasn't that close to) move away...

And I found this one while looking for a photo of me at 18 and couldn't resist:

Me at 14 or 15, after an evil evil hike that started way too early in the morning and took me way to long to get to the top (by the time breakfast had been long eaten). But at least I got to pick pretty flowers and talk to someone's grandma who was as slow as me.

This "self portrait time machine thread" deserves a thread of its own. Still the end of the year is a nice time to do it. I don't know how old I was when these were taken.

My sister upped these to her flickr account along with some old photos of my parents in college that I'd never seen before. It made me feel heavy with the past, but in a good way. That's where you were back then, but so many things have happened since then and so many things are still going to happen in the future! Holy crap life is exciting. Even when it's not.
