    This was one of my favorite issues so far, probably because of the meaty character stuff for a good chunk of the cast. And despite myself, I've really been enjoying this storyline's role for Dark Speedball, The Bad Idea That Walks Like a Man.

    Well, it's that's not a Peter David-esque Doc Samson waltzing around Thunderbolt Mountain like he owns the place, dissecting superheroes motivations, drinking beer, watching rugby... hmmm, yet he's somehow familiar. Needs a beard.

    Venom in full on Alien Monster mode, Nazi swordsmen, unseen psychics messing with heads, stunningly drawn 'splosions, what's not to love?

    anytime there's a main character hiding in the bathroom having a "moment", it's fucking gold.

    What else is there to say about his issue, It tops the last! Crunching bones, nazi skinheads, possible monocle wearing barons? all contained in Thunderbolt Mountain. I can't wait for the next issue-Norman Osborn vs Strucker vs kthultu Venom! This story arc is beter than the last! Must buy this!

    Brilliant as usual. Warren, you are one of the very few writers who can make me enjoy superhero books. I usually don't like superheroes (too many of 'em and too repetitive), but you have a way with them that makes me ignore the tights and enjoy the story.

    In this issue, I particularly loved Doc Samson. "See, if a knight isn't in a shiny armor, he's just another scary guy with a sword" is a fantastic line in a book full of them. Venom's confrontation with Gargan, Osborn against himself, the security guard before the explosion of Zeus - incredible dialog all around. The characters are deep and fascinating, each with their own motivations and plans. Their constant problems with one another sound perfectly natural. And, of course, your dark sense of humor is great.

    Mike Deodato Jr. is amazing. His work with shadows, facial expressions and visual narrative are priceless. The double page spread with the explosion of Zeus is dazzling, also thanks to Rain Beredo's excellent coloring.

    Thunderbolts is a joy to read, Warren. Astonishing book.

    I bought this and the other two issues leading up to it. Its great. The fact that they are all breaking down in some way seems to be shining the light on why they are villains.

    Looking around the wastelands of the Internet I have noticed a sizable number of people do not relate the mysterious plan, established last issue, of a number of captured psychics, to anything that happened this issue.

    On one level, thats a shame in terms of people's ability to follow the story. Yet its damn funny that people have been waiting for the various murderous fuck heads to loose it since this began so they all are enjoying it anyway.

    I loved the quotes on the posters myself, including the full version of the quote Busiek used from day one as a gotcha about the team.

    Forgive what is essentially a comment on #117, but Samson's breakdown of self-harm for Penance and the empathy-starved in the audience was excellent.

    I as well would love to see a DOC SAMSON ongoing, or at least miniseries.

    He's been great in this storyline, and I'm going to be sad to see him go.

    Thank you for writing Venom a little more believeable. Best he's ever been, same for the whole book.
