    @orwelleyes

    except he doesn't say to stop giving. Just the opposite:

    Harsh said the organization's rules regarding marriage are outdated, unfair and must be changed, but he doesn't want his personal situation to harm the Salvation Army.

    "I want to tell people, and use the media, to say don't stop giving to the Salvation Army because of this. That would be terrible," Harsh told FOXNews.com.

    14-year-old gang-raped by group of teenagers for one-and-a-half hours. The perpetrators and a group of bystanders, none of whom alerted the police, filmed the attack with mobile phones. The victim was raped as punishment for not showing the gang leader respect. London, England, 2007.

    Goddammit... so upset I lost the entry. WTF BofA, you didn't even need a bailout?@! But you're cool with letting a company slip because you'd rather hold onto the bailout money you weren't looking for than lend during this LENDING CRISIS.

    My comparison of the days' headlines to 1960s will wait for another day when I'm not typing and watching Rachel Maddow.

    @JimJonesEsquire -

    Not an accident, it was a test flight: it's W's last act as president - suicide jet fighters. Imagine what it will do to Iraqi and Taliban forces when the US starts slamming fully loaded F-18s out of the sky into random buildings...

    EPA Administrator on Religion and Science: "it's not a clear cut division"

    My favorite quote:

    Johnson will leave office having tarnished the reputation of the agency, decimated staff morale, and degraded the health and safety of the American public. Condemnation of his tenure is near-universal. Four former Republican administrators — Russell Train (Nixon and Ford), William K. Reilly (George H.W. Bush), Christine Todd Whitman (George W. Bush), and William Ruckelshaus (Nixon and Reagan) all criticized Johnson to the Inquirer for deferring to the president and polluters instead of obeying his sworn oath to enforce the law.

    GOP Congresswoman thinks call from Obama is a prank, hangs up. Twice.

    See what those guys who pranked Sarah Palin have started? Also, in related (and scarier) news:

    Hoax phone call 'almost took Pakistan to war'.

    Researchers want to power aircraft using ground-based IR lasers.

    Initially they're talking about using this to power long-duration drones - I bet the DARPA guys working on vehiclwe-mounted laser weapssn are extremely interested.

    Reminds me of an old Larry Niven idea for a space launch system - focus lasers on a big-arse tank full of water and turn into into steam which you then vent through a rocket exhaust.

    Geneticists engineer E. Coli to produce a long-chain alcohol which packs far more energy than ethanol.

    Pretty much still at the proof of concept stage.

    @ScottS: It was stopped by a single person wading into the group, pulling everyone off her and getting her out of the area (Guardian). That man (I'm not going to insult (? too strong a word) him by calling him a boy as the article does) deserves the George Medal

    Australians get to eat fucking anything. At this rate, Spider's desire to eat a swan and just about anything else bounding/charging/waddling across god's green earth will be entirely legal and in fact OPENLY ENCOURAGED here downunder by the end of the decade.

    Come one, come all!
