Just discoverered The Raincoats " Odyshape " album from 1981...magnificently cheap and ramshackle postpunk with thumb pianos , rattling percussion and scrawled violin. Its like like The Velvet Underground reimagined by the late Oliver Postgate.
If you pick one song , make it " Only Loved at night ".

@joe i've always liked stoner rock, i just likedit MORE once i broke edge at the ripe old age of 25. a quarter century of sobriety is enough for any man. one day, you and me are gonna get all Bill Murray'ed and talk about how screamo used to MEAN something. we'll listen to Cannabis Corpse. ha!
btw breaking edge was such an excellent decision, but i am glad i was sxe through the years when i could have done the most damage to my precious, precious brainmeats. the kids, they don't know how to appreciate The Fog.
I just put pandora on go and create a new channel once in a while when I hear a song that sounds cool... started with Crystal Method and ended up with Foo Fighters. Sort of evolving radio idea.
pandora's blocked at work. i download stuff from random music blogs, throw them in the ehPod, and hit shuffle. sometimes it's fail, but usually it's win.
I just remembered I wanted to share (with anyone who hasn't heard it) the goodness that is the band Weep. Just an EP out at the moment, but it's got this old goth rock kind of thing going, maybe a little Jesus and Mary Chain shoegaze worked in. Really good.
Oh, and the guitarist/singer is Doc Hammer, co-creator of the Venture Brothers.
