I heard "Woman", "University Educated", "Has Gun" and instantly thought "Militant Feminist". I think it stems from this English Class I once took run entirely by Militant Feminists... it was a little uncomfortable sporting a penis.
Looking up "domino" on Wikipedia led me to its origins as "domini"; black and white masquerade-type masks from old-timey Venetian Carnivals, which I thought was more interesting and mysterious than a traditional domino mask. I left everything else the same because I didn't figure Domino Lady to be needing to jump around rooftops, etc. Excuse my elaboration, but I figure that she robs from the rich and then only APPEARS to give to the poor... She's really planning a massively elaborate revenge plot against the conspirators who murdered her father, and her "donations" are all one more domino in her chain reaction of retribution. Also, I feel like the full face mask allows for Domino Lady to be anybody underneath... like not necessarily whassername, the district attourney's daughter. (Sorry for adding that story bit, but I have been thinking about it all day.)
Hey, person with numbers for a name: I like your dress design, with the domino spots on it, and I like that someone's hand has come along for the ride on DL's newly acquired briefcase...
@brycemidas: 21st century Domino Lady surely is fergalicious and spends the money she gets from the crooks in temporary tattoos and tanning salloon sessions.
Thanks for the compliments! I have another one that I just finished, which I may scan and post as well (I didn't want to crowd it up). She's wearing a leather jacket and Wayfarer-style sunglasses with domino dots on them, a decidedly more homemade look than the crazy dress and mask.
Comic book and movie characters: Cuffing something sought-after to your hand means that it will get cut off, because ripping the handle off the case is boring.
Attention: This is just a PLACEHOLDER. This is just representation, not RE-interpretation. This is my warm-up for REAL thinking to come later this week. I have a few interesting (?) ideas, but this one was bouncing around in my head this morning, and I wanted to try out this illustrational style for a while. So, I thought I'd post this to let people look at something while I grind out (hopefully) a more interesting idea...
