    FINALLY! Science has been dropped...
    Sorry for the delay, I was busy in Detroit signing books at Green Brain Comics, but had two really long drives between Detroit and Kalamazoo to brainstorm, so here's my entry:

    "As his spaceship more and more becomes his home and eventually his world, SpaceHawk begins to detach himself from the original concepts of enlightened cosmic justice (along with his humanity) he once sought. Convinced that the small, perfect world of his ship represents the way to achieve intergalactic harmony, the elimination of all not like himself becomes his one goal. And the universe becomes darker than before..."

    Special thanks to Dave Glide, who helped me focus in on the "Space Don Quixote" angle that led to this version. And nothing like going back to the masters of evil propaganda design for inspiration on how to brand mass genocide.

    Well, great minds think alike, obviously, since your Spacehawk is exactly like mine... Just kidding, but your drawing and concept ARE eerily similar to mine: Receding hairline with bits of gray, ominous glowing red lights, never leaving the ship, destroying everything...

    I do like how you've spun the Spacehawk logo to make it look like the hawk is diving down towards something to grab/kill it. It gives it more of an immediacy and intensity. Nice, as usual.

    Yeah, I noticed that we both came up with similar takes. You got a better "empty look" in the eyes than I did. Nice drawing! I dig the subdued palette.

    And yes, I discovered that while the logo had the hawk flying up, it looks noble, but aiming the hawk down makes it look like it's swooping down to "kill the stars". Which is where things eventually went, eh?

    My faves so far: Terry Taylor (god, it DOES look like Freddie Mercury), trigger25 (cute AND grim), lx (like a scratchy faxed photo from space), Dapper Dan (like a helicopter indeed) and you, frequentcontributor (sick and lonely image).

    I didn't have time to do the one I wanted to, so I just put this one together tonight.

    And there are so many good pieces cropping up in the thread. Trigger25's is still probably my favorite. As someone said before, quite grim.

    "Be good or SpaceHawk will get you..." Ha! That is freaking hilarious!!! Funny AND an interesting design; I especially like the hawk's head forming the helmet... It reminds of old Power Rangers masks from when I was a kid.

    I like the psycho planet killers by Paulsizer and frequentcontributor and Alex Medellin's outrageous space ship/suit very much.

    Also Michael Furious's robohawk, very cool.

    Paul, I dig your 40's cover recreation. It doesn't look old, per se, but it DOES look like a real comic that I would pay 3.99 for at the store, so nice work. Too bad that SH is a commie... And Oh Christ, Warren as Alien-Killer is priceless.
