Avatar's crack production team has been screwing up and listing me by accident on credits pages! (I expect Mark Seifert to inject a comment here...) ;)

Mike -- that usually just happens with my own name. I think I may have been "accidentally" listed as editor in chief for awhile there.

For those wanting to keep up with what Mike's doing on Gravel and his other work, here's the Mike Wolfer category on avatarpress.com

Mike, have you seen your Gravel interview with Ray Sidman yet? The article is in Comic Buyer's Guide #1638.
  3.  (46.23)
Gravel #0 is printing as we speak, and will be in stores Dec 27th (presuming X-Mas doesn't cause shipping problems). Only $1.99, so please pick one up and let us know what you think!
  4.  (46.24)
Books are shipping on Friday, during both the week of Christmas and New Years.

    Here's the thing - I wasn't a huge fan of the mini-series (I don't think I bought the last one for example).

But the difference between on-going and mini-series means that this is more interesting to me and so I'll be giving it a go. I guess it's that I expect the ongoing to be more in-depth than 'near-invincible bloke shooting people', which while it might not be the *actual* truth, it's how I remember it.

    I wish I had a memory.

So yep, it's been ordered and will be a nice surprise when it gets delivered by the nice postman.
  6.  (46.26)
I dunno, I think you might have enjoyed STRANGER KISSES, if only because it's the weirdest and meanest...
  7.  (46.27)
I'll have a look and see if I did buy it - my perception of reality is buggered by an awful memory. And yes, weird and mean are two things that I like...

(If I don't own them, I'm willing to put money on my brother having them as he buys pretty much everything from Previews).
  8.  (46.28)
Warren pushes his own work, so I'll just keep flattering him too, even if it is on his board.
Ever since I started to read TRANSMET I've been on a (probably) neverending quest to get everything he's written. So a couple of months ago I bought the one which takes place in or during a prison riot (forgot the exact title), loved it so damn much (pass the syrup will, ya) that I preordered the whole series, so I'll be getting all the minis come next month.

I started pretty late with Warren's work published by AVATAR, because I thought it was a publisher with mostly shit comics. I couldn't have been more wrong ofcourse. I fall down to my knees and ask, no beg AVATAR for forgiveness. I do have to say that I only buy Ellis' and Ennis' stuff (and Moore and Miller, when they publish here), I'm not partial to Lady Death and the likes, but I think I will give ESCAPE/PLAGUE/NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD a try, even though I wasn't going too. They'll probably be out in trade by now.
  9.  (46.29)
Donnie - Your sin is forgiven, you have decided to join us in the darkness. Thanks for the kind words and support! Escape of the Living Dead will be out as a super-sized TPB (all 10 issues) start of Jan.

My life for a comic book shop that isn't an hour away in London.

I'll be one of those people that gets the collected edition. Not because I especialy want to but more due to the lack of a comic shop anywhere near me.

    @ William....

Sweet! I guess that will be in the new previews?

Anyone have any news on when Romero's Night of the Living Dead, PLague of teh Living Dead minis o/s and annuals or Wolfskin will be collected and how?

Id love to see all the NIght of the Living Dead and PLague of the Living Dead, i mean all of it in trades..customers have been asking for both...plus i need a copy for myslef of all teh issues in one neat or two neat TPBS

Randy - Actually, it was offered in Previews several months ago, it will be live in Jan. Certainly available for advance re-orders and we did a good-size overprint. It is a monster at 240 pages long. Official title is ESCAPE O/T LIVING DEAD RESURRECTED TP (Diamond code SEP073420). We will have them at Diamond later this month, but with the holidays and all, I expect it will take them a few weeks to get them into stores.

Wolfskin -Honestly, no chance of a trade in 2008, looking like a 2009 release. Warren is going to write the sequel in the Spring and our current plan is to collect both series into one volume. With only 3 issues out so far, I just think a trade now is too skinny for the permanent edition.

Trades on Night and Plague of the LD - I'd love to, but that will totally depend on re-order sales on this Escape TPB. Initial orders on the new Escape TPB were really soft, so we need to see if it is going to perform well over the next few months.

Thanks for all your support of Avatar in your store! We couldn't survive without stores like yours.

    William -

Just checked ordered 6 of ressurected, will re-order as required.Probably scanned over it or wasn't sure that it wsn't the first escape trade, which is easy to do with Diamonds online ordering system, a previews in your lap and our own counts sheet printed out.

Wolfskin - makes total sense, like Black Gas, both minis in one.

I sure hope Plague gets collected! I'll do my part on orders/.

Thanks for bringing some diversity to the market and pushing some more fringe stuff from fan-favorite writer like Ennis, Ellis and Moore. Can't wait for Delano's book, defintely gonna try to cross-sell to Dok Sleepless fans.

I'm having a time out until I can learn some manners.
Glad to hear that there'll be a paperback containing both Wolfskin stories. There'll be plenty of other things to read between now and 2009, and it'll read like all new material.

When will the Black Summer and Doktor Sleepless paperbacks be scheduled? Been looking forward to reading those as well.
  12.  (46.35)
Look for Black Summer and Doktor Sleepless TPBs next summer, we'll be announcing exact dates in early 2008.

I have not been paying attention, and like Donnie, I am new to Avatar (and I am just getting back into ahem...works of graphic narrative) so if i want to read some Gravel, where do I start? (I just picked up the first 3 Doktor Sleepless and am hooked. I've heard a lot of good things about Black Summer too, but I'll hold out for the trades.)

if i want to read some Gravel, where do I start?

Sarpedon, if you want to start reading some of the earlier Gravel tales, this is Strange Kiss, the first story featuring William Gravel:

    ISBN: 0970678401
    Diamond: STAR12541
In print and available from your local retailer.

We're putting together a page at avatarpress.com now with more info on Gravel's early days. I'll be back to post that shortly.

Mike posted the above mentioned link to the GRAVEL section on avatarpress.com over here. It's well worth the trip over to have a look; very nice.

Here's the direct link to the site, if you prefer.

I don't know what is wrong with me tonight. I saw this thread on here and clicked on it expecting some comic about the nutso Democrat running for prez... I knew what this comic was, and had added it to my pull file, etc etc.

I think it is time for bed.
