Issue #0 ships next week. The Jan. Previews spread concerning the new series and trades availible from the previous series, plus a word from the Major himself, is really sweet.

Thanks for the early word, Spiraltwist. I always look forward to seeing how the ads look when they hit print in Previews, too.

And as per recent bad signal, there's a new interview with Warren regarding GRAVEL up at Newsarama.

NRAMA: Of all the characters you've created, Gravel reads to me personally as one that might be closest to your own interior thoughts. How close is he to you?

    WE: Not at all, really.

    NRAMA: Well, color me wrong.

Does anyone else find that question intensely bizarre? I mean its a typical question, people still assume Warren is Spider or Jenny I would guess. But Bill

You have to wonder what people must think goes on in Warren's head.

I've always thought of Spider as a conduit straight into Ellis' thought process.

I really like WE's response there. Very Warhol-esque.

I asked my local store if they would be carrying Gravel, and the guy behind the counter said it would be released 1/30/08...I'm a bit confused.

It's showing up on a few retailer ship lists I've seen posted, so I think it's looking good for next week.

@JTraub: As a journalist, I read that question and thought (paraphrase), "bitchsezwhat?"

It just seemed so strange -- not so much the question but the wording. "How much is William Gravel's personality a reflection of you?" would be a sort of "normal" journalistic way to word it. As posed, the question read as totally presumptuous to me.

New Mike Wolfer interview about Gravel, just up at Newsarama.

Just purchased Gravel #0 yesterday. I like it so far and plan to hang on and see where it's going. Only other Gravel book I have is Stranger Kisses. I liked the Hodgson references.

Hello, all. I am getting the hang of this forum. So different than the Delphi style but I am getting used to it.

I picked up GRAVEL a couple weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised with the art. That guy has a great EC Comics feel to his stuff. The bookshelf and desk on preview pages for issue 1 just looked dark and dusky and creepy. I would love to see this guy and Fabio Moon do horror comics in the old tradition. I am also happy to see that Gravel still has the look that Wolfer defined for him. The six panel grid has been a hallmark of this series and it is still in effect here. It keeps the pace up, IMO. These were some of my favorite action comics of the past decade.

Anyway, I am in. It was more brutal than I expected. I hope the magic stays cranked up like it has in the last few minis.
