Rounding it off, I suppose - Sunday night highlights:
Sisters Of Mercy - SUZANNE Gil Scot-Heron - B Movie Low - Point Of Disgust Buck 65 - Blood Of A Young Wolf Negativland - I Am God Thomas Dolby - She Blinded Me With Science
The consistently awesome 14 Tracks site has a 2-step themed bundle this week. I do love me some Horsepower Productions - takes me right back to the early 2002 dubstep that was basically minimal speed garage with reggae off-beats.
So it's:
GROOVE CHRONICLES - Masterplan TRG - Put You Down SPATIAL - 70810 PINCH - Airlock HORSEPOWER PRODUCTIONS - Log On (Dub) SULLY - Broadway G BURIAL - Pirates SYSTEM- ekko BASS CLEF - Music Will Fade Yr Poisons F - Icon UBERDOG & KYMA - Keyboard Gum STEVE GURLEY - Hotboys PATTIE BLINGH - Brother: The Point (2562 Remix) TGS - On Tha Run (Horsepower Productions Remix)
And still this Joker mix I can't get out of my head! Mad-ass pitch-bent synths and heavy, heavy gangsta subs.
ah. you gotta love a band whose entire catalogue fits onto a single cd.
there are literally hundreds of bands who do this. maybe thousands....when your entire output consists of less than five seven inches and/or less than two 12"s it fits quite well
Seriously, is it weird that I've just gotten into the Deftones? Like, I need an answer, because I feel slightly ashamed of myself for not doing so sooner. I listened to Team Sleep almost before I heard of the frontman's actual band. To date, I've listened to "Hole in the Earth" a good 100 times.
It must be the cold weather, but I pulled out a box where I had a bunch of techno cds stashed and have been listening to quite a bit of Monolake and Plastikman for the first time in a while.
It is way late post, but if you are curious about Jello Biafra's recordings after the Dead Kennedys, look up the album 'The Last Temptation of Reid' by Lard. It is a collaboration with Ministry/RevCo when they were at their peak and mostly quite good. It is at least the best thing I heard from Biafra until he worked with The Melvins.
Ah, Ministry. There's a warning for you kids - stay away from heroin, it may actually make you think that slow and heavy sounds better than your previous fast industrial style.
Tchaikovsky - Manfred Thurston Moore - Trees Outside the Academy The Fall - Austurbaejarbio Melt-Banana - Speak Squeak Creak Yoko Ono - Fly The Craig Charles Show
My spell checker wants me to change 'Austurbaejarbio' to 'Masturbation'. What does Austurbaejarbio mean in Icelandic?
I read a list by Chris Rock so I've been listening to old hip hop:
LL Cool J: MAMA SAID KNOCK YOU OUT Wyclef Jean: THE CARNIVAL A Tribe Called Quest: THE LOW END THEORY House of Pain: FINE MALT LYRICS Beastie Boys: LICENSED TO ILL
