The chat system seems to be function fairly well, without a lot of the pain of some other web base chat systems. That said, I do wish it was one that tied to an IRC system (or even Jabber), so I could run it in a separate app rather than my web browser.
This is a personal preference, of course, but hopefully something to consider for the future.
Not sure it'll be too much of a problem on here, as everyone seems to be lovely, but it seems you can set your screen name to whatever you want, which means anyone can impersonate anyone else. Could potentially be nasty in the wrong hands. Otherwise, seems to run fine.

Aww. How about a telnet based system? Or XMPP (Jabber)? Both are quite capable of handling chatrooms, can be easily embedded into a webpage, but also are friendly to using another app.
It's definitely not an ax I'm looking to grind, just curious.
@Warren- Works for me, too. good, easy stuff for a nontechsavvy girl, and there seems to be a solid group of folk there. It's simple. It looks good. It works fine for what it's used for. edit- omg. Page2!
Chat seems pretty active from 11am est -4am, something like that. It's awake when I am.
It's active earlier before that too, for people who can't handle those hours on the east coast. It seems to pick up around 4-5pm EST. After work crowd, maybe?
