How much explanation does it need?
I'd've liked a little something that didn't make it seem like the Six-in-Baltar's-head had left him, taken solid form, framed Baltar, exonerated Baltar and then magically vanished back into Baltar's head. A throwaway line from "Flesh and Bone" about the Shelley Godfrey woman getting found and killed on another ship (or even something about an escape pod going missing) would've been fine. Instead the writers go out of their way to indicate that she just vanished into thin air with no real world explanation. You even have that bit from "Home, Part II" with Head-Six claiming to be an "Angel of God" that seems to reinforce the "Six-entered-the-real-world-by-the-power-of-religious-bullshit" concept. Which is just silly, and something that fits better with Star Trek or Stargate than Battlestar Galactica.
So yes, I would like something that explains that, even if it's indirect, and I'd like it in the context of letting us know just what the deal was with Six and Baltar being in each others' heads. -
I dunno, this doesn't seem complicated. The fact that they didn't mention an escape mechanism doesn't mean there wasn't one. And at that point, the writers were probably just trying to keep us guessing. But is it so inconceivable that there were Cylon sympathizers in the fleet even then?
As for the 6 in Baltar's head, it has - near as I can figure, anyway - nothing to do with the reporter (which doesn't mean it would pass up on a chance to fuck with Baltar). As for "what the deal is" with the head 6 and Baltar... well, the show's not over yet. I've certainly never gotten the impression that she actually enters the real world, though, whether by religious bullshit or some other mechanism. -

I actually think this is one one of the major plot bits we might all want to brace for disappointment on in terms of closure. It has become less and less a narative tool since Caprica-Six joined the cast proper, and even less so since a buncha random Sixes all became common anyway. Rather the more and more Tricia Helfer has had the chance to be other Sixes the less Chip-Six has been used or seemed to matter as much. -
Chip-Six settled down with Scorpius's neural clone from /Farscape/. They had little dendrites together.

@JTraub, thank you for this post. It captures my feelings almost exactly. Add a bit of disappointment and some horrible annoyance at some of the characters (I'll never like Starbuck, for a start), and you've read my mind. My feelings swing from boredom to excitement week by week (this week rocked my socks off). That said, should I carp that something as ambitious as this falls short on the odd occasion? Probably not, but season three tested my patience almost to destruction. With that my attention wandered, and I never got it back. This thread has helped me generate more enthusiasm for it, especially the chatter about the political side of the story, which was always the stuff I enjoy most about BSG.
Did anyone else have an Aeon Flux vibe during the half-season opener? The execrable film, not the classic animation. The whole idea of clones having memories of the original bodies they were based on? Those scenes of Tyrol and Tigh remembering their past life was just like Aeon and Trevor Goodchild's flashbacks. -

On the whole 'was Ellen Tigh chosen as the Last Cylon from Season 1' thing, this interview with Kate Vernon has her say she only knew for the last 2 seasons - and RDM confirms he chose this about that time. -
