Nope. Starbuck definitely got the sniffles this episode. In a bar, drinking with a piano player.
Not in a maudlin way of course. That would be a cliche. -

They don't cry nearly as much as they used to, and when they do cry it's usually over something that deserves it. Saul over his miscarried kid, Athena over her "twin" knocking her out, tying her up, hiding her, fucking her husband right in front of her and then going on to kidnap her daughter. For the record, Athena's crying wasn't so much "woe is me" weeping so much as "I will fuck the universe up its asshole with a spiked dildo" rage-crying. Besides, as mentioned, there was some fucked-up sex in this episode. -
Boomer is the coldest, most stupefyingly skilled sleeper agent in the history of agents sleeping.
Not only did she get in undercover in season one and blast Bill Adama two times in the chest, she gets in AGAIN after everyone KNOWS about her, and right in front of their faces causes the shit to be kicked out of at least two 8s, stuffs the magical baby in a crate and strolls off to Cavil with her.
That's like when Penn & Teller do the cup & balls with clear plastic cups (except with more wounding sex and mindfuncking):

If it weren't for the pres going wacky I would have been expecting something else was up with Hera and that box. Just that we didn't see the girl in the crate, y'know?

Boomer's "Be careful with that!" to Galen as they were loading the box onto her Raptor was pretty much a giveaway, if one were needed. Incidentally, somebody on TWoP noted that the woman on guard at the Daycare was one of Baltar's cult-grrls.

I think we should remember that it is possible - possible - that she didn't take Hera to Cavill. I'm not saying that's what I think, just that we should know not to take anything for granted with this show. One thing - Tyrol didn't know Boomer had the child, but she briefly tried to get him to come with her. What did Tyrol think she was doing?
so that was like the ghost of Starbuck's dad?
...yeah, I'm pretty much willing to bet my first born at this point that he's Daniel. Whether that means he was a Cylon projection, or she was just genuinely hallucinating, I don't know. -
It's a Raptor with limited food and fuel - with the food being taken up by a small child. There's no realistic place she could go except back to Cavil. And presumably Tyrol thought she was inviting him to come with her to Cavil on the idea that they could somehow find sanctuary there. Tyrol rejected this because, among other things, he didn't want to get his brain operated on like they were going to do with Ellen. Tyrol didn't know about Boomer's "ace in the food case."

@SteadyUP: I think he was essentially the same thing as the Leoben-who-was-not-Leoben-nor-precisely-a-hallucination that she was chatting to when she died back in Maelstrom. He may not have even looked like Daniel, and was just there to remind Kara of her father (same as Not Leoben was there to give her closure with her mother) and the music, and that destiny wasn't done with her yet. -
I've been watching some of the older episodes lately and I'm really amazed at how this show is built. Pardon the biblical references, but I can't think of better examples: while on the surface the story seems to be like Exodus - the people escaping oppression under the guidance of old and upright leaders, forced to wander in deserted places awaiting deliverance into a promised land, that's all a superficial gloss. What this story really parallels is Job, the book about unjust, unreasonable, unbelievable affliction.
For those who might not be familiar with it: Job is faithful to God. Satan challenges God, telling him Job is only faithful because he is healthy, rich and beloved. If all that were taken away, his faith would fall too. God accepts the challenge and allows a series of unbelievably brutal and unjust outrages to be perpetrated on Job and all the people Job loves. Just incredible horror and misery. It goes on and on.
The question at the heart of that story is: Is faith integral to the human heart, or is it only the byproduct of comfort and happiness?
I think the question at the heart of Battlestar is: Is trust integral to the human heart, or is it only the byproduct of security?
All through this show, more than anything else, the Cylons have over and over again wormed their way into positions requiring trust from humans, and at almost every turn they have brutally betrayed whatever trust was given. Over and over again. There are a very few individuals who have been genuinely trustworthy, but they are literally physically indistinguishable from the most vicious betrayers. Humans are in a position of complete vulnerability. The only way for them to survive is to trust each other and to trust some of the Cylons, but they've been given no empirical way to determine where their trust should be placed. Every comfort, every anchor, every assumption has been stripped away.
I don't know exactly where I'm going with this, it's just where my head is with this show right now. No character is allowed the comfort of confidence in the trustworthiness of anyone else. You are alone in your head on the edge of extinction, and you have to reach out to live, but how can you do that? How do you decide who to trust, when you have nothing to guide you but your imperfect insight?
I'll bet in some way that's what the end comes down to. Can you trust well? -

I'm still convinced that Starbuck's ghost Dad=Not Leoban=Chip Six=Chip Baltar... Daniel's consciousness is floating around in the Cylon imagination-space.
Of course, one big problem with that is, even if Starbuck's a hybrid, how could Baltar be seeing anything?
The other big problem is that I'm probably very wrong. -

And yet, it's always interested me how there's really an inverse correlation between material comfort and active faith. People who are comfortable and secure don't really seem all that full of faith. It's usually the one who've lost everything else in their lives that seize upon faith as a cornerstone. One question that's always interested me about Job is how much faith did he really have before the "Devil" took all the rest of his stuff away? -

Slightly off topic, I suppose, but the version of All Along the Watchtower that features heavily in the series now...is that a cover or remix of the original? And any info, I am trying desperately to find someway to download it.
Tonight's episode was great though. Slower than it has been, but it still felt like sooo much happened by the end. -

The two versions from the season 3 finale were included on the season's soundtrack, which can be found in various places. This one is a little different, if only because of the piano, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was on the next soundtrack, but that won't be out for months.

Two things that got me about this last episode:
1. The Chief can spot Boomer immediately but Helo can't tell his wife isn't his wife? I mean, granted, she's not even in the same body she was when they first fell in love (she switched hides when she went off to rescue Hera, remember?), but... really, Helo? And should we read something either Cylon-y or meaning-of-love-y into that?
2. If the BSG writers had decided early on that jump drives created a dangerous wake when they were activated, the tactics of the Fleet might have been wildly different. You mean every civilian ship with a jump drive could've made its escape and done damage to enemy ships at the same time... all this time?
Or more nit-pickingly, the Galactica is supposed to be able to withstand another jump or so, but it cannot survive the aftereffects of a tiny ship jumping nearby? Uh... This would bother me less if the next episode didn't seem to stem dramatically from this technobabble-inflicted wound.
Maybe they can use Roslin's secret Cylon wig technology to transform the follicles of mutineers' corpses into materiel to fix Galactica. -

I took it as Cylons can easily distinguish individuals eights/sixes/whatever from each other but humans can't easily. Caprica Six had been with them for a while, Boomer had gotten off that Raptor seconds when Chief realized her. -
