I have a feeling the past month's episodes, and tonights as well, have all been (and are going to be) buildup to the last, 2-hour mega event. -

Well, tonight was good. Other then the fact is is clear it should have been aired with next week in a nice three hour block as once planned. It was clearly act 1, and a very solid act one at that, but act 1 none the less.
Next week looks like: boom. -

Yeah, I thought he was going to cross the line, what with the whole "one selfless act" bit. However, I'd argue that it's less of Gayus pussing out, and more Gayus being Gayus.
Speaking of him--who the frak hits their dad, no matter how crazy he is, with a newspaper like a dog? -

I suspect Baltar's story is not over. I think the only major character who won't get a measure of redemption by next week is John Cavil (I doubt "Simon" or 'Doral" has any coming either, but I would not call them major characters. Individual models might change sides, but neither 4 or 5 has ever had a real character in the story).
And for the record: Julius father of Gauis - nice..... -
I was really expecting dream/flashback(?) Roslin to break everything, but didn't. Also: she's got the biggest bawlz out of everyone for getting up and showing up to volunteer ;_;

I suspect Baltar's story is not over.
Maybe not, but I think it would be just fine if that really is the end of his story. The craven self-absorbed nutcase who opened the door to his civilizations doom and still never got it together.
But really, I think we might just see everybody die. -

Yeah, everyone dying is a distinct possibility--though I don't think it'll be too bad. If the ad for next episode is accurate, if the human race dies here, it's going to at least go out with a bang.

I have never read this as a big secret of the 4th season, or as all that unclear since Razor, it seems obvious the future is hybrids. The Human and Cylon race as they currently exist are near their end. I presume something in the last episode will hasten this or make this even more likely to be common, but simple moments like the Six who died saving the workers mean the trajectory is against an existence of "the other" and towards unity. The fact Hera is front and center only underscores this. -

Isn't that the whole point of Kara being the death of all? I think we're going to get a reveal that she's already a hybrid of some sort and the future of the two races will all be hard-drinking, self-destructive nutballs. I expected something more to come of Kara's eggs being harvested way back when (other than the red herring New Caprica arc), time might be now.

One has to admit using a melody as a key element was a better idea than a limerick with a punchline rhyming with ak. What a lame device it would have been. don't you think?

OK One episode left and this thing wastes time with flashbacks of a drunken Apollo chasing a pigeon around his Caprica house/apartment.......GAH I say.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering the point of those flashbacks. I'm guessing they either have something to do with that movie they're doing, The Plan, or there's some significance in the events before Caprica's destruction that are prevelant to the end.

Very true, and I can see that happening--or, both the Humans and Cylons fuck up to the point where they both kill each other. Like someone else said, that would be a hell of a grim "Frack You" to the audience. -

The fact is this was act 1 of 3 for a 3 hour episode. The flashbacks are dramatic underpinnings that (I suspect) felt oddly time consuming becuase SciFi split the episode like this. We really needed to get this in one night as planned.
