   My thought went to Saul Tigh for the death of Roslyn's family, but yeah Apollo could have done it as well. Its too weird to not to have been connected to SOMEone on the ship.

   I don't care. I want this one gun from the first act to stay the fuck in the holster. Because otherwise it's that stupidity in "Black Market" all over again. Lee's not interesting enough, so instead of having his suicidal ideation come out of established problems, let's tack on some asshat soap-opera pregnant girl he had on Caprica and now a whore and her little girl too.
   
   That's what this is starting to feel like. Like one of writers going "Ooh, you know what'd be a really cool reveal for the finale? That Lee Adama was the one who killed Roslin's family!" Never mind that it pretty well invalidates the relationship the two characters built up over years and doesn't make a fucking bit of sense.
   
   So leave the gun where it is. Fine, Lee got drunk. It is entirely possible that some other drunken fuckwit killed Laura's family and I'm willing to leave it at that.

   The idea that Madam Airlocks family was killed by a drunk driver appears to be from the series bible (albeit with some changes here). I honestly agree with the notion it underpins why she has been able to deal with all this, something never entirely explained. She lost everything a few years back. Then she got cancer. Then the world ended. By that time, she was probably nearly the best person in that administration to take over.

   As for the question of an all-too-familiar drunk driver... hell of an idea. I would love to see that... on Lost. Not in the final 90 minutes of BSG.

    Precisely. Another thing to consider - if a drunk driver kills your whole family, and especially if he lives himself, you will know his name. Very little chance, I think, that she'd have moved on without ever knowing who the person was.

    Also, on the Lee killing Roselin's family thing--didn't the cops say that the driver died along with them or was caught or something?

    Caught and stable. There is no possible way it was Lee in any reasonable narative sense, and really the only flaw for me in the episode was not editing it differently to avoid anyone asking that (from an objective point of view) question. Lee was drunk becuase he had met Kara, he then chased out the Kara bird. The Roslin stuff is not linked, but the edit of the episode makes it seem like a possible "Lost" like connection as someone said above.

    RDM has that problem though, because the show isn't particularly planned in advance and it grows "organically" he ends up hinting strongly about things that aren't true... or rather end up not being true at the last minute.
    
    For instance in the current podcast he goes on for a few minutes about how daniel is not kara's father. I guess he just didn't understand that if you set up a new mysterious character that's not understood and an artist. Then in then two (three?) episodes later show one of the main characters (who has a questionable origin) having visions of her dead MISUNDERSTOOD COMPOSER FATHER that people might infer a connection.
    
    Let's not even get me started on Liam ( son of tigh/caprica )... what a terrible abortion of a plotline that was. Literally ... I'm surprised they didn't have cottle go after her with a coat hanger.
    
    So yeah, I'm putting on my disappointment pants friday in preparation. Here's to hoping we spend 10 more minutes looking at Adama drunkenly staring at girders.

    Weren't there a few episodes in Season 2 dealing with characters seeing the afterlife? Like the one with Lee floating in space and then being in a river floating around? I'm sure the flashbacks dealing with people interacting with dead folks will play into that.

    1) I really would have preferred all three hours in one night. This 1/3 episode felt like 1/3 of an episode, and next Friday is going to feel off, too.
    2) The Colony is right on top of a black hole, right? So... what? Time loop? Adama's his own great (x30) grandpa? They're the Lords of Kobol? Oh, fuckit, never mind...
    3) BSG is the show that started as the best SF show since B5, and has downgraded to a merely very good show. So, you know, I'm largely happy with it.

    I've been rewatching the series - on Season 3, "New Caprica" now - and it strikes me this was really the turning point in the series.
    
    As soon as you see Saul in the cell with one eye, and his beard...Tigh's character really went around the corner from ordinary to profound. To me, this is when the series really took off.

    I think it is where Tigh became the focus for me too, he became more then a lens to see Adama and Thrace through (and more then a cautionary tale that he was at season 2's start). He remains a lens for the audiecne, but has been carrying the banner of the plot since then. Making Ellen the 5th only reinforced that.
